from what i remember we had to pay the fees only if we confirmed that we are joining the seat we have been selected for.

okay thanks @Abhaysood .. I knw that MBA is core but does it mean MBA core guy can opt for any branch of specialization in final year ?? Didnt get the actual difference example as MBA Banking will be specializing in a particular field of banking like risk management or insurance etc..

Yes, you need to deposit 6+lakhs to confirm your seat for the program you have been selected for.. You can skip your confirmed seat and wait for higher preference to clear.. However what if you skip your confirmed seat and don't convert higher preference.. Something for you to think about..
