[2013] NMIMS Final Results Discussion!

guys...I think it would be better if we all try to find the mode packages when we are interacting with seniors etc...averages are grossly misunderstood and depict a different picture !!! N this applies not just to focus but to all programs.

How mode will help you?? Suppose max offers (mode) are of 8 Lakhs or max offers are 12 lakhs? How can you understand the placements then? I think median and average BOTH will be best to find abt placements.

dont think packagewise bro... think from your interest wise ...
@Nipunkumar Last year the seats were 300, and they admitted 340. This year seats are 360, so they will admit approx 400, if the trend is followed. Last year, the first list has merit no. 510 converted, and finally after the last list 649 converted, i.e. margin of 140. This year, as per pg, merit no. 612 converted, so by last list, because of addition of 60 seats, merit no. 800-850 also stand a good chance, if lucky.

some universities give TC and some give MC... functionally both are same... they mean that the older university has no objection if you take admission somewhere else...

mediclaim policy is not for loan purpose... however some banks make it a mandate for un secured loans....

this 1 lac mediclaim is for the purpose of taking care of your medical expenses during your course of study...

HEY WHICH IS BETTER PGDM BANGLORE OR MUMBAI CM?
opt for MUM-CM only if u are genuinely interested get some info abt this specialization and then join cooz investing 15 lacs and then regretting wud not be a viable option.NM Banglore is a waste of money instead try for a general MBA program which will give you more exposure and your options will be open for various sectors. You should chooose Capital Markets only if u are genuinely interested dont blindly opt for this course
@vipulkhanna09 I am also a waitlisted candidate for core at merit number 795.

In Any Case.. U wil get the BRAND Name .. it wil be very helpful for REST of ur FUTURE and Profile
dude i agree brand name is an important aspect but even a brand name like IIM is not helpful these days go and see the placement scenarios at new IIMs u will know the harsh reality.Runing after a brand name shud not be the sole criteria,if that wud have been the case then colleges like IIT Delhi,IIT Kharagpur etc which have got more reliable brand image being govt colleges wud have been better option than NMIMS.So i dont agree there are several aspects one shud keep in mind like Industry exposure, faculties, infrastructure, batch strength, return of investment, while selecting a college
@sudhirmmm Thanks..

This is what I have inferred so far..Total cost - 16L..After taking a loan and considering interest and fooding - 18.1L Now in how many years would I be able to pay this amount considering I earn 10L pa..I'm taking this as an average cuz I know ppl who've gt 14L as well as 7L an evn 5L (Source - friend of friend at NM). NOw if I get 75k in my pocket, I'll have to save 50k in order to stay in a metro, where I'm highly probable to get a job. So paying 25k with some increments along the way, time taken to pay off the loan - not less than3.5 - 4 yrs..do the math. After getting rattled of the tireless thinking for the past three days, I guess NM is not an option for me..This is just my thinking..next stop - CAT 2013/GMAT
as I have said if u have a tight budget then dont go for pvt colleges except XLRI.All pvt colleges like SPJain,NMIMS,SIBM have the same fees.Instead target NITIE,IITs,FMS,JBIMS in such situations coz if u take a loan of 15 lacs u will be under heavy debt so think abt ur budget and then invest

@vision_twist@vision_twistThats TRUE, one of the seniors who is known to me has also informed me dat the placement till date is just around 30 percent for BM.Is it worth joining this course paying hefty sum of 6.31 L per year ???
join BM if u are genuinely interested in finance and u will know the real scenario after joining the college.
@Abhaysood Adding to what @blue4u is saying, guys when we dont reply to placement related queries its in interest of students studying in our college and for in the interest of students who are going to join college. Once you will join any B school let alone NMIMS u will realize how the placement process works.
If we start telling u everything about placements on a public forum we ourselves will be putting our future at stake for someone who we dont even know and may never meet in life.
Its really sad if some of the students are actually replying on those queries via PM or whatever.
You will appreciate this fact when you join B school and if fortunate enough to work in Placement committee of your respective college.

How exactly is future at risk, if NMIMS provides fair details about its placements? Is IIM-A mad to get their placements audited? Is their future at risk? And, if that's the case then why does NMIMS let us know anything about it? Why lure people with a figure of 13+ lakhs, when you know future is uncertain? Why charge a 1000 bugs at every step? Why sell your course at 16 lakh rupees when you dont even let the buyer know every detail about the investment? Why do you fear about the future if your product is good? Let people know everything, and they'll decide for themselves. Education industry needs regulation, big time!!

What kind of management is this? This college is in a business of making money, and people have all the right to know about the reality before they lock up a some of about 20 lakh(interest added). The authorities have made it nothing but a cheap show to raise funds for their air-conditioned campuses in Vile-Parle, and to expand the SVKM.
