W/L - 9 . GEN.

Need 9 people who have converted but not joining FMS.

For OBC, i have checked 2013-15 fms admissions list. By seventh list merit no 128 cleared. I am presuming merit number is including 54 seats + wait list number. In this case like 54+ 74 in wl.  Hope this year also same thing happens!

WL-90,Gen Category....hoping for the best 😛

WL 190 GEN is as gud as reject right ?

Choosing FMS over IIMC and other future IIM calls because:

1. I don't want to get bogged down from making future life decisions- such as of starting a business etc. or taking off - due to a heavy loan(a necessity in IIMs). I come from a middle class family and don't have a very solid financial background.

2.  Almost all the experiences I have read on Quora and other forums asks one to refrain from taking heavy education loans, especially in modern times when any form of education is readily available on the internet.

3. The two differences between FMS and IIMA/B/C is of brand value, and some high profile investment banking and consultancy jobs.

4. Such jobs require you to have a very solid educational background - ( IIT + IIM with a high 8 or 9 throughout). Additionally, they want you to be a finance bug and offer a highly pressurized and one-dimensional environment. So, if they are not your destination or you aren't their's, there is no point taking them into consideration.

5. The brand value do matter but FMS also is making some brand value of its own. Those who have an experience would know that when you get a similar kind of job, the only thing that matters after you bag your first job, in a long run is how you perform.

6. One point people make is that since FMS doesn't have hostels, you'll miss out on a hostel life. That isn't necessarily true. I have seen students in NIT who pack themselves in their hostel room even though they have a hostel life. It depends on attitude. People are studying in FMS for a long time and I am sure they must have manged to form a lively community.

7. Additionally, FMS is in the Delhi university campus. It is the most eccentric and respected university campus in the country.

It is clean, lush green and connected by Metro. There is a lot to learn from everywhere. The capital teaches you a lot of things - even the hard way.

8. FMS curriculum is not as stringent and academic as that of IIMs. It focuses on things other than mathematics. Additionally, since it is a Delhi university college, you are going to get the coolest set of professors.

9. It is near to my home in UP and that counts. I'll save my to-and-fro-home journeys and rather spend that money and time in travelling somewhere else.

So, these are the reasons I can think of. Feel free to counter or add something.

My only point is - when it comes to making life decisions, you must think about you first without being too collectivist.

"Can't wait to join it" 😃
