Hi Experts!,


I had my CAT exam on the 25th of Oct in the morning slot.
I attempted around 15-16 in QADI (11-12 might be correct) and 27-28 in VALR (23-24 might be correct). I don't want to get into the whole business of predicting my percentile, it'll be as good as predicting tomorrow's weather.
What I do need is some help in intelligently selecting the colleges to apply to.
I don't know if this is the best strategy, but I am planning to select 2-3 colleges in the various percentile ranges and apply to them. Thoughts? Any suggestions on how I can improve this strategy? Or any better method to select colleges?
Please help me in narrowing down the best colleges (3-4 in each range) in the following percentile ranges:
------95+ (barring the IIMs of course):
------90-95 (I am not sure if I should further segregate this into 90-93 & 93-95):
------85-90:
I have pretty decent acads (85+, 77+, 78+), and have a work experience of 17 months.
As for mock exams, I took the aimcat series. Got around 80-85%ile initially ( in arnd 7-8 of the tests), 90-93%ile in the middle (arnd 6-7 tests) and 96.xx%ile in the last 2-3 tests. I have faltered in 2-3 of them too (only about 60-70%ile).

Another thing I need help with is the other MBA entrance exams. I am going to write XAT, SNAP and NMAT as of now. Please help me in identifying the best institutes to apply for using these exam scores. Also, please mention the tentative cut-off which would be required for each institute.
NMAT (I know NMIMS Mumbai is good, what about the others?):
SNAP (Only planning for SIBM pune, are the others worthwhile?):
XAT (Apart from XLRI, what are the other good institutes in the Xavier's umbrella? And what other private institutes accept the XAT score?):

Also, I am not sure whether I should give CMAT. What are the best colleges that accept the CMAT score?

I know it'll take a while to answer my queries, but I don't have anywhere else to go! This is the only place I can hope for some help and guidance.

Please, please take some time out and answer my queries. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

almost same acads as u n 17 months' workex......my AIMCAT avg was 85 arnd

you can apply to IITs,MHROD/MIB/DSE/MFC/MBE ...after CAT results too

from XAT.....only XLRI,XIMB,SPJAIN and IMT-G will suit ur profile..

NMAT.....only NM mum...worth fr u
SNAP....SIBM,SCMHRD....u can chek SIOM for operations though

CMAT- only JBIMS,SYDENHAM,KJ SOMAIYA,GIM worth trying

u can also check for GREAT LAKES PGDM,PGPM (one yr prog....but needs 2yrs+ workex)

Among the mentioned colleges, you need to apply these before results:

FMS BHU & Nirma

I forgot to mention Nirma in my previous post.

Last 2 years cutoffs for NIRMA 80 (Sectionals 50)

And you can also fill LBSIM.
Last year cutoffs:

It is almost impossible to predict the exact percentile...But with 18+ Correct in both the sections... u can surely expect 98+......so go ahead n apply for NITIE n FMS

Well there is a lot of unsurity in your score still if you get above 99+ %ile in CAT(that should roughly require a score of 105+) then you do have a great chance of getting a call from IIM B and other top IIM's as well since you got good acads and work-ex plus you are a girl 😛 i mean the trends are changing and more numbers of girls are taken into account for admission in the IIM's.

No doubts the best for operations...
97+ %ile was the cut off last year with sectionals 90+ in most of the cases...


FMS
Again required 98.73 last year....

So just hope that you can get to atleast 97+ in CAT to have a chance of getting calls from atleast one of these giants.

You can also apply to SP Jain(Before 30th Nov) and IIT's after CAT Result...ATB :)

Roughly in early 70's...but wait for CAT Results who knows you might have got more correct answers...Also focus on SNAP, XAT, CMAT for more options...ATB :mg:

Hi all. I had my CAT yesterday.

My attempts were
QA/DI 25(3 definitely wrong expecting atleast 20 correct now)
VA/LR 26( though my accuracy is much lower than what i am expecting, but still expecting a minimum of 17-18 to be correct )
What percentile can i expect and which colleges should i apply to .. work ex 1 month 😛 acads 10 90+ 12 80+ btech 80+ category general .. Pls pls help me out someone !!
