I gave my CAT Yesterday (6 Nov) the paper was moderate to difficult,I attempted 18 in QA(of which i think 16 are correct) and 25 in VA(80 % accuracy),what %tile can i expect and in which colleges should i apply
X-88%
XII-84%
B.Tech-85%(2012 batch)

no work ex(waiting for Infy)

Yes, the fee is on a lower side. Less than 50k per semester :)

Check the PG Rankings. Mostly all of these colleges are under top 50.

Cut Off's

MFC/MBE -> Minimum 90 %ile required. Then based on acads.

MIB/MHROD -> 93.xx %ile

Strictly speaking wrt to CAT, I'll mostly apply to FMS, IMT G, FSM, LBSIM & KJ SOMAIYA as of now.. Can you suggest a few more good colleges? Especially in the 85-95 range (phooti hui kismat.. still can't predict my percentile range).. How're TAPMI, MICA, GIM, Welingkar, LIBA? What are their average pay packages like?

Also, is it advisable to apply for XIMB through both CAT and XAT?

And one last question.. Do all the IITs have their deadlines after the results come out? I heard some of my friends saying that some IITs have their deadlines before the results, any truth in that?

AFAIK...u can apply to all IITs after CAT Results(same happened last year)

For College Rankings...refer to PG ranings or TIME B-school Classification...it will give you a fair idea.....(india today ya outlook ki mat dekh lena...else u wl start looking BEYOND IIMs)

10th - 94%
12th - 95.8%
BTech - 77.8%
Work Ex - 26 months as on Nov 2012. Infosys. about 4 lakhs salary.
CAT - 26th Oct 2012
Section I - 19 questions. hope to get around 45 marks.
Section II - 29 questions(Not sure abt the right ones 😃 ). Will be very happy to get 45.
Hope : To get 90 marks.
Kindly tell in wht percentile range I might get with these marks(80 to 90)?

(i would like to go if i get above 90? any chance with this?)

I have applied to IMI.
Want to apply to : S.P. Jain,IMT G,SIMSR
In doubt regarding : NITIE,FORE
Please let me know which all colleges I should apply to(in the above list as well as others)?

With 30+ correct ... u can expect anything around 90-98 %ile (My personal opinion based on experience...baad me SUE mat kar dena)

It depends on ur accuracy....for 30 correct and 17 Wrong...ur Raw score will be 73( it should translate to arnd 85+)

but for a raw score of 90 (say 34 Correct 13 wrong)...u can expect 94+.....so to be on a safer side.....do apply to atleast 2 institutes from the 80-90 Bracket

for 95+ --- MDI (closed),FMS (98+), NITIE (97+ ),SPJIMR (95+)

90-95 .... IMT-G,IMI (CLOSED),XIMB (takes Xat too),KJSOMAIYA

80-90.... Fore,LBSIM,UBS,BIM,kjsomaiya (ib)

U can apply to all IITs (in case ur enggr), after the results too

i can think abt kjsomaiya n tapmi after results.

any other clgs i should apply to, before results?

@theholykiller Your percentile should be round about 95 - 97. Apply to NITIE, IITs, MDI,, XIMB, IMI Delhi, MICA(if interested for advertising and marketing). All the best :)

Just to leave a note here,

Please see that NITIE has sectional cutoff for PGDIM and PGDITM course as 90 percentile with overall cutoff being 97 and 96 respectively for the 2 courses!

Hope this information helps you in your decision.

Cut off for FMS is expected to be around 99%ile

SPJAIN gives profile based. We can't say for sure.

But if you are confident , you may go ahead and apply to SPJAIN. Your acads are very good.. !!

@theholykiller Yes ofcourse, SP Jain too, I missed that, glad you mentioned it. MFC is Department of Financial Studies under University of Delhi. It forte is finance and should definitely be considered if you are trying to make a career in finance. Good Luck :)
