[2023] Which B-Schools should you apply to?

My Profile :

10th- 87 %
12th- 86.5 %
B.Tech - 74 %
No Work Experience

NMAT Score - 176 . Can I expect atleast a call from Bangalore / Hyderabad campus ? Atleast a Call

@misraswati : Don't go by rankings rather open the site of the respective college look at the mean and median salaries . Look at the profiles being offered in your field of interest. Talk to seniors and alumni . It will help you get a better picture than rankings will be able to give you.

Difficult as last year the cut off for the second list was around 190. But if the paper was difficult then the cut off can be less.

Ya, you are just on a border..
last year,cut for banglore campus was 188-190 I think.
So better not to take a chance. Go for retake if you get slot and try to maximize your score 😃
@supratimd916 thnx a lot..will do t same...thnx again..

@shiviyer : You have a scope because last year's second list cut off was around 190 but converting such a call would be very difficult. So give it another shot.

@missionCAT13 thnx a lot... i could not decide about t college...will look up some other source.....thnx anyway

@KrishnaKLU

As per last year's trends you can expect a %ile nearing 90.

You should apply to IMT as it also accepts XAT Scores.

Also apply to -->

FORE
LBS

Rest options can be explored after CAT Results.

All the Best for SNAP, XAT, etc.. !!

Hey puys,

Is FMS strict on the 60% criteria..or is it lax?

@sunnysterix They are strict on their criteria.. The exact criteria is mentioned below :

For the full-time programme, the eligibility criteria are the following:Candidates applying for admission to the MBA full-time programme must have pursued at least a 3-year Bachelor's Degree programme after twelve years of formal schooling in any of the following disciplines. The minimum requisite percentage of marks in different disciplines is as follows:
Arts, Commerce or Social Sciences- 50%
Sciences- 55%
Mathematics or Statistics- 60%
Medicine, Engineering or Technology- 60%/ CGPA of at least 6 on a scale of 10
OR
Post Graduate Degree or Second Degree examination after 10+2+3scheme, securing at least 60%marks.
Relaxation in the minimum eligibility will be allowed only to candidates of the following categories (SC/ST/OBC/PH/CW).As per the existing University Rules, the candidates belonging to PH/CW are eligible for a relaxation of 5 per cent marks in the minimum eligibility requirements. SC/ST candidates should have qualifying marks in graduation degree. The candidates belonging to OBC category are eligible for relaxation in the minimum eligibility to the extent of 10% of the minimum eligibility marks/qualifying marks prescribed for general category. For reservation of other categories, University of Delhi rules are applicable.

@misraswati I would say, DO NOT trust any rankings!

Decide on few institutes to target based on your expected CAT score (or relevant entrance exam score), collect facts, information for yourself from seniors, alumni, PG threads, institute website and any other source and then based on your own requirements/expectations from MBA, personal conditions/criteria etc. take a call on which institutes to apply.
@ajaygovindg thnx a lot...doing t same...for colleges i thought ranks wud giv a general idea..nw vl look tem up..for consulting seniors alumni i have to look up t recent admission query forums?thnx in advance...

@misraswati Specifically for the institutes you want to get answers, the best place here in PG is the individual admission threads itself. But then the next question will be how true/trustworthy is that. So then the onus is on you as an aspirant to ASK the RIGHT questions, rather than just going by those numbers (average/median salary) that are floated around. Ask questions about the profiles offered, the companies which visited, the faculty, the infrastructure, peer group, teaching methodology, where alumni are, corporate interaction and anything else you can think of!!

did the cutoffs for nmims Mumbai also dip last year??? wow I never knew for blore and hyd

came to 188
