I think XLRI and TISS are the best colleges in India for HR at the moment.

Taking into consideration, the academic downside can you please sggest me some B-schools that I can apply to .

I have shortlisted a few B-Schools - FORE,LIBA,GIM,IMI,Somaiya .

Thanks,

Can some one tell me what will be the total cost for studying at IIFT (tution + other expenses). Tution fee is 5 lac p.A. Im not sure about other costs as it is not mentioned on the Web site...

First and foremost priority right now should be preparing hard and giving your best in CAT and other exams. Then on the basis of your scores, target the following:

On CAT score expectation basis:
95-100%ile : new iim's, mdi, SPJ, XIMB, All IIT's
90-95%ile : IMT, IMI, LIBA, LBSIM, KJS, FORE, MBE-MFC, MIB-MHROD
85-90%ile: IFMR, XIME

I will come up with more inputs.

@Brooklyn If you're thinking of applying or joining IIFM based only on their average package, there's probability that you are going to be disappointed in the long run. Colleges like IIFM, IRMA are sectoral B-schools. Now, you've to be very sure before applying to these colleges. Are you genuinely interested in Forest Management, micro finance and similar profile? If yes, then only apply. My answer may seem a bit direct and probably harsh but then once you go through their Placement brochure and the profiles which are offered there, you would come to know about this.
PS: I'm in no way discouraging anyone to apply to these colleges. IIFM and IRMA are probably the best sectoral colleges in India in Forest Management and Rural Management respectively.I just want to advice that you've to be very sure about your liking before you apply. Whether you're really passionate about studying it and make a career out of it.
@Red_Bull : no i have no probs, i havent applied to IRMA coz yup it aint me. So wat abt IIFM only forest mgmt or finc ???

*****snipped****

How is IBS (ICFAI) Hyderabad ? I've gotten a call from their representative asking me if I'm interested. I've heard about ICFAI(good for Finance). but nothing much about IBS as it's good or avrg. Please help guys

Kushwaha. As far as I know, its the same institution (ICFAI), rebranded as IBS Hyderabad.

@Kushwaha To be very blunt and straight- Apply to Icfai only if you're not sure of converting top 30-40 B-schools of india. There are much better schools in India which could give you the same profile and package with a lesser fees and with the same learning

1. There are lot of MBA Colleges in India. You can def secure a seat in few of them.

2. But the point is what should be the level of college that sattisfies you. If we go by the Mock Score, you can expect to score somewhere in the range of 70-80 %ile. But you still have time in your hands. If you can make an extra effort on your part and try to improve your Scores, you can def make it to the range of 85+ or 90+ and you will have few good options of colleges to apply.

3. Another important point is how desparate are you to do MBA this season only. If it's not a compulsion, you can look for a job and prepare for CAT 2013 simultaneously and aim for the Top colleges.

4. Get back for any further query. ATB.. !!
