@Mindspeed
Hi guys,
Would like to have some advice on my options for masters.
Gmat-660(q 44 v38)
Your GMAT is on the lower side and may pose a problem for some b-schools. Will you be willing to retake it if its below the average GMAT score for your target b-schools?
@Mindspeed
So, i have joined my family business after my undergrad and it has been 2 yrs since.
I find it ideal to do a masters degree now before i get completely immersed in business operations and later may not be able to break off from work.
A break from work is always welcome
, although it may not be possible. With 2 years of work experience tucked under your belt, you are in a good position to apply.
@Mindspeed
Post masters would join back the family operations but would like to gain a year or maybe 2 w.ex in a school placed company.
There is no concept such as "school placed company". The b-school will only facilitate your getting a job through its career services/ job treks/ alumni network/ campus interviews and through other networking opportunities. The responsibility of getting a job will eventually rest on your shoulders.
But yes, it is feasible to work in another company for a few years before you get back to business. You may have to address who will take care of the business in your absence, in the applications.
I think it will be relevant for you to work in a startup / an established company, depending upon what your business is, and what are the skills that you want to pick up from your post MBA experience, which you can later utilize in your family run business.
@Mindspeed
I dont find value in US schools as all decent ones will end up costing 80lac+(am i wrong here??)..
There is a bigger range from 50L -80L. The top ranked ones are more expensive, i.e. leaning towards 80L.
@Mindspeed
I am open to Europe and asia but not very sure about Australia..
There are many programs which have a module/ specialization in family business. Those should be of interest to you (search on Top MBA's website).
The probability of finding a job in the region where you study are the highest (~90%). Let your choice of the region be based on this.
@Mindspeed
I wouldn't mind doing a MIM OR a Msc degree if from a well recognized schools.(but i feel mim is relevant to ppl with nil or very less exp. or students from other field of study... Any pointers here??)
MSc will not make sense for you, because you are essentially looking at enhancing your business skills, which will happen through the MiM or MBA.
MiM is relevant for people with 0-2 years of work exp. So, I think you will be a fit there. Research these programs - again watch out for the family related courses.
@Mindspeed
I am open for both one year and two year courses..
Most of the 2 year courses are in US. π
@Mindspeed
Now, would like to know what program would suit my profile and what schools should i target considering my average score in gmat.
You are going to to this preliminary research and come back on this forum to share that with us. π
