I am planning to give GMAT in 1st week of August with a target score of 750.. My profile is as follows:
Xth : 82%
XII: 84%
Grad: 8.1/10 B. Tech in Elec. & Comm. from NIT Hamirpur.
Work Ex.: 5 years [Production and Designing domains] in a Defense Electronics PSU. Working in a PSU comes with some inherited drawbacks such as there is no appreciation/recognition in form of certificates, or out-of-turn promotion for your consistent good work, NO community work opportunities(CSR). I do not have anything in form of certificates to make my work ex. look better and more authentic even after getting a A/A+ rating consistently for past 5 yrs.
ECs: volunteered for 1-2 committees for organizing cultural fest [but i don't have relevant certificates to prove that]. NO community service. Nothing in sports in school or college. All in All There is nothing as of now in my profile that i would qualify as a quality EC experience.
Please evaluate my profile amd suggest how to improve wherever possible as i want to apply only to top Global B-Schools.
One thing that I can improve in my profile is my EC. If say Now I start participating in community work[NGO], learning a foreign language, taking some courses on coursera, etc. would that be a good decision? plz help..
PS: I accept that Participating in Community work just to improve my B school Application does sound lame and pathetic, but i desperately want to do damage control on my ECs. :(

I am currently a Software Engineer Lead in technical documentation team of a GIS company. I am 32 years old and have 9 years of experience.
I am planning to give my gmat in July or August this year. My academics are:
10th : 70%
12th: 50.2 % BSc Maths with Economics and Statistics as subsidiaries: 79.2 %
Extracuricular activities: In school, I have participated in quiz competitions but I havent kept any certificates. I have donated blood and taken part in compulsory National Social Services when in college. Recently I have joined toastmasters. I dont know whether these all will be counted.
Now, my question is whether I will fit the bill if I genuinely exhibit leadership qualities and acheive a gmat score above 700. I am talking about Indian institutes here as from what I can see is that they give too much weightage on professional acheivements and extracuricular activities.
I think the fact that I changed jobs may also work against me.
Finally, which Indian Institutes and programs are conducive for future Entreprenuers?

I am an Engineer from Mumbai university with a total of 5 years of work experience as of Jan 2014. I look forward to give GMAT this year and am aiming for a 2015 intake. i am open to both, universities in India and abroad.
Would like advice on the following -
1) I am yet to start my preparation for GMAT, is it too late too late to consider giving the exam in a few months and then applying for a 2015 intake ? Would I be missing out on deadlines for many colleges Indian/foreign if I start my prep now, appear and then apply.
2) An ideal path to kick start the preparation. Material i should consider ? Classes ?
Also timeline that i should keep for preparation and then taking the test.
