if i give gmat in 2nd week of jan 2015 will i be eligible for applying in IIM abc 2015
Should I try and get a 2nd MBA degree from a top B-School outside?
- I earn about 25 LPA a year and am perhaps the youngest guy to to be in my position (Vertical Head - current job) at 25 in the company (which is one of the large conglomerates in the world with about 40 Billion $ in valuation). I have been a product manager (10 Bn $ + company 1st job after MBA - 2 years) and account manager (pre-mba 1 year, very small firm) I have about 3.5 years of work-ex in total. All of it has been in Marketing and mostly Product Management Side. (not an IT guy at all, although I am trying to learn programming now - better late than never)
- I am pretty well versed with the startups in India in the tech space, esp in the Bangalore-Delhi Sector.
- My internships have all been in Brand Management.
- I have a degree from one of the top 15 b-school in India (non-iim), became a MT right out of a college and one of the best performing so.
- I have additional certification from well known pretty well known institutions in Online Marketing and Consulting.
- My CV is academically pretty poor (by today's standards) - 7 CGPA in MBA. Undergraduate from unknown but govt institution in India which is sort of tough to get into in my stream. Also I have been a pure business student after my 12th.
- But my CV has stellar extra-curriculars with both national and international wins.
- Same is true for Social-Work. I used to be pretty involved in social-work before I came to the B-School domain. And I am beginning to start again.
- I also know about 4 musical instruments, have band wins and trying to learn 2 more.
- I may also have a book published by end of 2015 (non-fiction - in talks, can't assure)
- I barely know 1 foreign language (which needs a lot of practice to get back in verbal shape). Tried learning another one, but left it due to ... non-educational physical and mental needs (Ex-Girlfriend/s).
- I have studied in 3 nations during the course of education (pretty short periods - longest being a year)
- My Verbal section has always been 99.9%ile+ range, DI has been in the 85%-90%ile and my Quant has been about 70%-80%ile range.
Does it make sense for me to do this?
What are the odds and what are the typical costs?
I hear 90 Lakh- 1 crore INR to be the full figure - can this figure be considered correct or am I over/under-estimating costs?
I am looking at Harvard, Stanford, Kellogg, Wharton, INSEAD, Sloan.
Not too sure about Booth, LSE/LBS,IESE,HEC
Would be looking at Marketing, Strategy and Consulting roles only after this 2nd MBA. Not very fond of traditional finance. And I am not a Quant lover so...
Also, it seems I am asking for too much given my current Profile? (self-assessment)
Seniors, kindly guide me 😃
The 9 Do's for Application Resume:
1) Place your strongest material at the top of your resume.
2) Give your most recent professional experience the most attention.
3) Rank accomplishments in order of decreasing relevance.
4) Use details to quantify your impact on the organizations you've worked for.
5) Place your educational information after your work experience if you've been working for more than five years.
6) Resume design should be as important as resume content.
7) Include resume "extras" like honors, publications, presentations, patents, professional licenses or certifications, and relevant volunteer experiences.
8) Proofread and edit mercilessly.
9) For your MBA application, stick to a one-page resume.
Hi, I have an experience of 4 years as Software Engineer. I have attempted for CAT and scored 81, I know this is not a good score. I would like to take GMAT this time instead of CAT. Can you please let me know whether taking GMAT is a good move?
After screwing CAT badly, I am planning to prepare for GMAT. With the profile I have I will not get a very good college even if I score very good in GMAT. So I am looking for some average colleges abroad, very economical and want to get admitted in Oct 15. Can anyone please tell me some colleges which I can consider, things to look forward and some do's and dont's.
Hi,
I recently got my cat score and it's poor (91 percentile) I scored
X- 88
XII- 78
My parents keep telling me that I should pursue my MBA abroad but from what I've heard without work ex there is no chance of tier 1 b school in the US. I'm yet to become an engineer the coming year with a lot of extra curricular activities under my belt. Is there any chance that with a score of 700+ I can think of a tier 1 b school? And does knowing a professor from a b school help my cause in getting admission to that one?
Hello
GMAT - 710
Btech (IIT) 8.1
XII - 90
X - 90
Core operations 28 months
Extra curricular - quizzing
Which prestigious colleges can i aim for?
The 10 Don'ts for Application Resume:
1) First and foremost, don't make things up.
2) Don't turn your resume into an autobiography.
3) Don't provide personal data.
5) Don't use articles ("the," "a") or pronouns ("I," "you").
6) Don't overuse a few action words.
7) Don't forget your dates.
9) Don't use clichés like "dynamic" or "self-starter."
10) Don't turn your resume into a list of job duties.
I have a GMAT score of 730 and 3+ years of work ex. I applied to ISB, McCombs and Tepper. I got admitted to ISB and McCombs(with 25000 dollar scholarship) and wait listed in tepper. I want to do MBA in operations. I am not able to decide between ISB and McCombs. Plz suggest which of the 2 is better.

Hey Manya, I am a graduate (bcom)from st xaviers college. Cgpa 7.34. X and XII are 82 and 83 respectively from a state board. Professionally speaking I am a qualified Company Secretary and a Chartered Accountancy finalist(due in May 15). I am a national level speed roller skater and have also won a dance talent show broadcasted on national tv. I am just 21 and have done 2.4 years of articleship till date which is a part of my chartered accountancy curriculum. Will this articleship be counted as my work ex ? Though it's a kind of internship but required 8 hours of working. Also what would you suggest to boost up my career. Should I do a masters in management right now or get a work ex and do an Mba abroad? Please note I would want to recover back the money invested in my studies and not come back and join my family business. So advice me accordingly colleges with adequate placements. Moreover if you suggest an Mba, should I take the gmat now and aim for a 730+, and then get a 3 year work ex? Since gmat scores are valid for 5 years, I could easily hit a big score now and focus on a good work ex.
hello i am a starter with GMAT after a not so gud performance in CAT 14. I would like to join by end of 2015 or early 2016., till then i wud like to spend time on building my profile as well as GMAT Preparations. My profile is 10- 94, 12- 92 and grads 9.08 ..currently working in IT firm with 1.5 years of exp. I have a gud set of extra curricular achievements to support my scores.. i have few questions now ,
1. With regards to my preparations, how can i get started ? should i attend a coaching centre, if so which one is the best?
2. My budget is only till the education loan limit which i think is roughly 30 lakhs-35 lakhs., so can i get gud colleges for that budget with a good roi so that i can pay my loan back ? i am not worried about the location of the course, all i need is gud colleges.
3. will my work experience be gud enuf assuming i will be 2.5-3 years exp wen i apply??
4.a and the most important of all, what all extra professional certifications and learning will add to my profile, i am ready to slog and take up some courses ..ex: cfa etc.,

Hi. I'm targeting GMAT for the year 2015. Would be very grateful if someone could share their perspective, feedback, and advice on this.
My profile:
23 years old, female
10th CBSE: 94% | 12th CBSE: 92% (doesn't matter but anyway)
Grad: B.Tech in Computer-Science from Tier-1 University, 74.64%
Work Experience: 18 months working as a Software Developer with a major tech corp. as of December 2014 (completing 2 years in June'15)
Extra-curriculars: *Plenty*. Good footprints in theater, music, writing, public-speaking, organizing events, Baseball etc. and social-media branding, marketing, and management. Some noticeable entrepreneurial work during college years (won 2 international awards). Good online visibility as a writer.
Internships: A 6-week marketing internship (good numbers to show as measure of contribution) in IIM-A and 2 months of table-turning social-media-management work during early college years for a startup (some other silly/bogus tech internships too)
Volunteer-work: None as of writing of this post 😞
I am aiming for Round 1. Planning to take the exam by March/April (any suggestions on this?) to have enough time at hand.
Q1: Do I stand a chance to get into any one of the top US B-Schools with this profile? What should my GMAT score be, to this end?
Q2: Should I take up volunteer work to improve on that aspect? Feels like a cheat doing so but yea, what kind of work would stand out?
Q3 (Somewhat less related): How exactly do Indians cope with the exorbitant expenses overseas? Loan and then re-paying after getting a job? How easy is it to get?
Many thanks.
