my calls/priority list would be irma .. goa .. mica .. kjsom .. bim .. xime .. xiss .. and tiss is absolutely the first but that is in june..
this is my list, made because of my own peculiar set of circumstances.. ppl can agree or otherwise... but i guess this is a pretty fair list..
so am not really keen on xime and xiss...
the problem with xime is that it is costly as compared with other institutes!
4.20 lakhs to 4.30 lakhs! for the whole course is very high! when compared with 3-3.5 for others!
me going for the gd but not very keen to join!

First of all, GIM is much better off than even sibm, mainly bcoz sibm is built all along hype, 2nd ly the founder director of GIM was ex-diirector XLRI, founder-XIMB n current director from IIM, excllent placements gr8 tie up with wipro, even AZim premji himself has been there, the great place ampng others, the fees is very less compard to ICFAI, excellent faculty what more do you want any more reasons huh.

what is interesting is that SIBM results came out today and there wud be lot of guys who didnt make it there and wud now apply here.I am sorry to say that I am also one of such guys.The earlier BIM cutoff date was before SIBM result day and I probably wudnt have applied if the date was not extended.
All this extension business only makes the process that much late and creates more tension.

by the way, altho sibm cutoff was 96, from what i saw on the sibm thread, ppl who have been selected/shortlisted are generally **me not absolutely sure abt this** above 98 percentile... assuming that most of them will apply for bim.. because ximb xlri results not out... bim can easily up it's cutoff to 92 (i think i previously mentioned 90..) or keep it at 90 and ask for gd/pi processing fees... man, looks like life is going to be tough for some more time...

gim is very good.. no doubt, but i would not classify it as better or otherwise than sibm... because i will want more information to work on... just the founder doesnt make the inst great.. "hype" or perception is important too.. and to say one is better than other requires tangiable proof.. in case of b-schools, placements is an obvious criterion, but there are others like value addition, future growth, etc.. how do we compare them?
can we safely put gim and sibm at par, with preference varying from person to person? or should we discuss this and come out with a conclusion as to currently, which is better?

In the XAT affiliated colleges my choices would be: XLRI > XIBM > SIBM > BIM >or= GIM > XIME. Again individual perception varies.

Location wise there is nothing to differentiate between GIM and BIM. While BIM is an old favourite, GIM has gained its reputation recently and is one of the better new schools. But subsequent to the repeated extension of dates for submission of applicaiton by BIM the average XAT percentile of Class 2007 may be around 93-95 while GIM class should be around 88-90. To that extent the quality of the whole batch in BIM could be better than that of GIM. We can only now wait for BIM calls and see what happens. All the best to you HRH.

hey, me too didnt get... altho not mucho worried... xiss is a verl last backup ... not that i want to call it bad...
rdkp, i really dont think the performance in one exam is an indication of the person's potential.. we have seen so many pgites who did great in one exam but floundered in other... about me personally, i dont have to worry.. did verry well overall in cat and xat.. unfortunately didnt have a all-round performance (culprit was quant), so missed out on IIMs, XLRI, and MDI, SPJain... but am happy with my present performance and will definately work hard to be among the top 0.01 percentile in the batch of whichever college i join 😃

Got the prospectus from XISS, however two points which I find disturbing.
1. 50% seats reserved for Jharkand?!!!!
2. It says result would be out by 5 March and would be displayed on the website...but no sign of any results. I suspect that these are the last year brochures they are sending.
Neways I am through with my first ever GD/PI for IMT- N after getting 95%ile in Xat and 89%ile in CAT.

this is the handy man from bangalore....working in h.p....completed my engg from s.i.t college in telecom, aspirin to do my m.b.a.....
.........love to sleep n enjoy good food...currently runnin from pillar to post for a seat.....got thru xime but kinna reluctant to take up the seat.....have given k.j som intervew n hopin for better result which would do justice to my c.a.t percentile of 97.85........ these are the only two college i have applied ...hey ,if ne of u have idea bout kj som and the the profile of student ,do write back......chao:whatthat:
i wud personally prefer KJSom over XIME.. are you confident abt the KJSom interview? ATB with your admissions...
ya am kinna confident bout kj somaya ........but anxious as the ratio of seat for the college is 1:16..........well am plannin to buy forms for wellingkar...am sure kj som will be a better choice.....n wat s the profile of student in kjsom????
