Got a 99%ile
VA-96
DI-92
QA-99.5
but didn't applied to XLRI and XIMB or MICA
ANY CHANCE! because yesterda only heard that last year they had this upper cut offs

as far as i know no insti has upper cutoff.
even if they think u r too good for the insti then they will still call u for their gd and pi and definitly give u a final selection cause no college will want to miss out on best students.
best students bring best placement offers and that boosts the name of the college.
so upper cutoff is restricted only to job offers. do not worry bout bim
prepare well for gd.
and secondly.......refrain from typing such bold letters on the thread
all of us r eagerly awaiting the results as much as u r . threads r not the medium to vent ur desperation. so watch out.and be patient.

Thanx very much bharathraj1 you soothed my nerve a lot coz when i heard about the upper cut offs i felt like bursting out for the reason that i missed out ximb as well as xlri. and as far as desparation thing is concerned please think about your own days. how difficult it is for an mba aspirant to 1st get a call and then to convert it. it gives a student many sleepless nights. so it's not desperation but an urge to study further.

i am really sorry that u did not applu to xlri.
even i felt initially that i was not good enough for xlri, but then a lot of ppl told me that it was well worth a try and so i did apply. getting 98.13 i did not get a call, but i am not sad , cause i know i was close.
well even though quants cutoff was 95, and u have got 92, u did stand a chance in xlri cause u from b.com field.
and for gim and bim, u have a good chance, lest u do not screw up the intv and the gd.
just be urself in the intv and gd, be calm , cool and just try to speak a few valid points in the gd and i think u will make it pretty easily.
all these colleges give a lot of wieghtage to the xat score and in that matter u r right on top.

As for PIs, what people are looking for is how confident candidates are in their answers. There is never an answer to what interviewers will ask during PIs. So, it is better that we address the question of what you should do and what you shouldn't. Remember never try to fool them!!:neutral:
They can easily find out. if u don't know something, tell them as much in clear terms. It is not at all a problem.
Just read up some bit of current affairs. Be clear on your graduation fundaes. If u have some area of interest that is peculiar, read lots about that. Try to channelise the interview in a manner that they tend to question u more on your areas of interest, so that u can give them better answers and thus come out as a confident person. Prepare solidly for standard questions such as why MBA, what your long term / short term goals are, etc. Rest I guess should be taken care by joining a proper training institute. Finally, all said and done, the interview panel will determine which areas to focus on during the interview!!! But one thing is sure. This will not be a stress interview like some other institutes. Profs. are very friendly and encouraging.
It is not a must to know abt. management/ fin. jargon etc. They don't expect that u are a fin or marketing stud even before joining!!! So, u can go easy on that. It wud be helpful if u know some basic economics stuff, maths stuff etc. in addition to current affairs, other than ofcourse some bit about your work-ex and your graduation days
As far as GDs are concerned, the topics can just about be anything. Please visit the various leading coaching institutes' websites for some good GD topics. Now, to address of the question of how you can prepare for the same.
