The Brooklyn College professor Alex Vitale, who studies policing practices, finds the underlying training philosophy "problematic", regardless of the scenarios deployed. "The problem is not the technology per se, but the mindset that drives the training in the first place," he explained. His own experience trying a virtual reality simulator left him in a defensive, litigious mindset, as opposed to "a guardian mindset where the use of force would represent a profound failure". meaning of underlined part??
Hi PGs, I need help ....Its been five years that I studied. Though I read newspaper, novels, articles or other stuffs. Recently a bug bite me and I decided to appear in CAT'16. - Perhaps the reason is that the certainty and objectivity of mathematics, its once-and-for-all establishment of rock-solid truths, stands as a challenge to many common philosophical positions.
- It is very difficult to explain how a physical brain could do that.
- It is not just extreme skeptical views such as postmodernism that have a problem with it.
- The problem is not so much that mathematics is true, but that its truths are absolutely necessary, and that the human mind can establish those necessities and understand why they must be so.
- People care about the philosophy of mathematics in a way they do not care about, say, the philosophy of accountancy.
- So do all empiricist and naturalist views that hope for a fully 'scientific' explanation of reality and our knowledge of it.
