As i belong to engineering stream, i believe technical and management aspects of life are conjoint entities and are cross functional. i have spent almost 3 and half years developing technical skills and expertise in the areas of mining. these skills surely provided me enough knowledge to facilitate various activities & processes related to my field. but technality alone is limited to one direction only i.e, the concerned/related stream. whereas management can provide insights in a larger extent. the importance of mgmt lies in the qualities that it provides like leardership, team work, work ethics etc. various problems can be solved with technical concepts but merging management with it can help in understanding a problem with multiple dimensions with better clarity of thoughts.
During 2nd year of my collg, working on the project of "system approach in solving mining problems" i realised the need for various concepts related to operational research and thus i opted for a minor course in operations mgmt from the same university. since then, i have acquired various operations concepts and managerial skills like decision making, teamwork etc. Now i realize the importance of an MBA degree in today's world. A post-graduate coursein MBA can help expand my career horizon and propel me forward.
