Hi puys, I am considering giving the cfa level 1 exam in the december 2013, but got no idea about it till now. Would really appreciate if some of my below doubts are addressed by anyone.


1. How much of preparation time is required to get through the L1 exam.
2. What are materials and books required for this exam.I have heard about laxmi xerox providing schweser notes through courier, but is this material reliable? Are there other books
or materials that i would need to follow.

Ans 1. Depends, if you have done your graduation in commerce then you would require less time compared to others. It took me around 150 hours. But make sure you finish the course early and give mock tests.

Ans 2. Most of the candidates(including me) use Schweser notes and videos. The material is same everywhere, however, I would recommend you to download the e-books and print them as the material from xerox shops is not in great quality.

Hi Puys. Just wanted to share that I have cleared the CFA Level 1 Dec 2012 exam with above 70% in all sections. Cheers to all the puys who have cleared!!

Go for Goldman Sachs. Better growth opportunities there. You'll slog harder, but you'll get all the opportunities to make it to the front office - assuming the roles currently on offer are more or less middle office IB.

@niksjans check out the cfa website, u will get all the price details. 3 months is good enuf for L1, no classes require, read schweser and practice all types of questions

Though I gave CAT this year but not able to fetch the call from top B skools and I want to do it from premier B skools, as of now what you suggest, If I want to make my career in Finance should I give CFA and then mba and how much time is needed so as to crack this Jun CFA L1 exam????
