CFA Level 1, June 2013

Does anyone have any idea about Financial econometrics and what is the scope in this area?

Puys,

Need your suggestion. I am using Qbank to practice few problems after SS. Can anyone suggest what should be an average score while using QBank? I am really confused with this. Is there some benchmark to score before moving to next topic? Please suggest.

Thanks.

Dear Antilucifer , You need to score 70-75% at least, in my view. While the pass marks are not being disclosed by CFA institute my observation is, it ranges somewhere between 60-70%. If you consistently score above 70% in your practice Qbank, then you would be able to score 65-70% in full length tests, which is safer.

CFA level 1 question for 27-Feb-2013Which among the below options list the following equity securities closest to the ascending order of risk1) Unlisted Common shares2) Preference shares3) Global depository receipts4) Putable common shares5) Putable preference shares6) Callable preference sharesa) 5, 2, 6,4,3,1b) 6,2,5,3,4,1c) 2,5,6,3,1,4
Ans A: Putable is less riskier than callable as investor is assured of a minimum return. Callable security faces a risk of being called at a lower price when the current market price is higher. Unlisted shares are more riskier than listed shares as liquidity risk increases in unlisted shares.
CFA Level question for 1-Mar-13

Ram did some fundamental analysis on Indian equities and based on that he chose to buy 10 shares each of HDFC @ Rs.780/share, ITC @ Rs.295/share and Hero Motors @1900/share and decided to track them on a monthly basis. 2 months later HDFC was trading at Rs.810/share, ITC @ Rs305/share and Hero Motors @Rs.1650/share. Ram immediately sold 10 shares each of HDFC and ITC and bought 10 more shares of Hero Motors. This action of Ram is most consistent with which of the following Behavioral Finance trait?

a) Representativeness
b) Conservatism
c) Over Confidence
