One more thing ..I am a bit doubtful about the job profile ..as I am presently working in software in an MNC (30 K /month)..don know If I shud grab this opportunity or not ..also this was my first & last attempt ..(age limit)

If its tax assistant, then I can just give you my viiew. You wud join as TA at grade pay of 2400 and in metros u wud earn abt 22.5k in hand, seeing this I don't consider its a drastic faal in ur salary, cos in addition u r getting job security. But seeing the growth aspects in Pvt. job this job won't fetch u same result.
if you work for 3 years cont in ny central govt job u will get extension n wud have near abt 3 chances more for int posts. My take wud have been TA cos I hate Pvt sector,but you may be well satisfied with ur job so take decisions accordingly.
PS: U can't make it to Govt jobs after a particular age limit. in ur case its nw(barring upsc) so choose wisely.

Its for TA only ..(only tht list i got my name ) ..It is a matter of satisfaction ..thts true as I am not much satisfied with my software job ..but jus for mere satisfaction ...I am thinking many times ...If I will be taking any wrong step by opting for this ..

i don't knw bro may be this is the wrong step. But what if u leave this opportunity and after a year you again repent on your choice that may be Govt job may have been much fulfilling for you. then that choice can't be undone.No choice is bad, remember it.
If I would have been u I would have taken TA, as I like time for myself, moreover I wud have a chance after 3 years to again get something better, which you won't have in ur current job. My take continue working till joining comes and then leave the job, join govt., see it for 5-6 months cos this much gap you can explain easily in case u want to again join Pvt. sector.
Of course after 4-5 years in case u remain in ur job u wud be earning nearly twice the money a TA would make but wpould you have the same peace of mind is the only question. I too left the job (35k) for auditor as I wanted time for myself and study. Moreover I openly declare that I was not competent enough to survive in pvt sector. If you have confidence in you don't leave else take your call.
And believe me Govt would pay u enough to live a decent life, if not lavish
