See all,
the way crashing dummy dismissed off ICFAI , he has to probably eat his own words.............seems its a big ordeal for the poor fellow............my heartfelt condolences to such inexperienced people who feel that what they say is correct and all others r fools !

probably, this is gonna inject some wisdom in an otherwise brazen head.

woof woof !!!!! dummy goes woof woof !!!!

Any specific reason you wanna keep continuing your little tussle ?? And Babu, i thought this thread was supposed to be for discussing the exam/course contents and stuff...NOT for soft-selling any specific course. Having been on the forum for a while, I believe you pretty well know our take on such issues....Please stick to the topic, and without getting personal !

Prefer CFA distance learning. You get same degree at the end of completion of course. Its not written on your certificate Distance learning. CA, ICWA, CS, CFA AIMR are all professional self study courses. The fees difference is high. Regular will cost you approx 3 lakh while DL is priced at 50000 bucks.

The best way to start is to collect CFA ICFAI prospectus from the study centre and make a plan after reading the course contents and other things.

Hi mod !!

Know what? I have never badmouthed about AIMR and have maintained that it is a fabulous course whereas CTD has always bad mouthed about ICFAI. Just read the previous posts.

Secondly, when I am sharing my experiences with others, CTD terms it as "sharing my personal frustrations" and threatens with giving a piece of his mind. What right on this earth has he got to say these things?

When someone comes so directly at me and also abuses my alma-mater no end, then I have every right in the world to give such people befitting replies. As they have sowed, so shall they reap. Let him know that duniya mein woh akela hi bahadur nahi hai.....aur kaafi soorma hai.....aur unme se ek se paala pad gaya hai uska.

Let there be another million crashing dummies, I am not worried coz I can very well give an eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth. In that process, even if I am termed unprofessional (as nakulo5 said) or rude or aggressive or whatever on this earth that pleases anyone's mind, I dont care a damn !

I have not just confronted them. If you read my posts, you will also find that I have given good advice to others. I have also shared details about how to focus on exams and what to expect in different levels of the course.
My simple question to you is, has CTD done anything else except abusing ICFAI CFA ?
The answer is a very clear NO.

Looking at these reasons, I find no reason in taking this as far as it goes. It depends on that dummy....I shall take it as far as he wants to. Believe me mod......I can really take it far.

Regards,

Tumtum.

I would be lying if i said i'm not enjoying this nonsense...This stuff is gold!!

I'd have loved to carry this on and on, had this thread been in the chit-chat or some timepass section. But i`m sure a lot of genuine info seekers are suffering coz of this pointless rhetoric (it is seriously annoying to receive an email in your inbox about a reply being posted, and then finding a dud, isnt it?). Anyways, in the larger interests of the pagal junta, i'll call it curtains here. Due credit to all your efforts, best wishes for all your exams, goodbye and godspeed...Crash test dummy has left the building!

Reminder to self: no more posting on this thread, do read it once in a while though!

Even I am enjoying it dummybhai !! however, I also see the same email that there is an entry to this forum and even i feel prettymuch the same way as you do.

so be a man... stick to ur words for Ur own good.

No regards.

Welcome CFA_SMART !

I think you will be appearing for july examination. Workbooks are more then enough to crack examinations. You can get very good percentage if you are thorough with your workbook. Workbook is very comprehensive and gives you adequate practice.

Dont get confused with all other books. Do your iCFAI books well to score high.

Have a look at past year question papers which you can download from the website. Questions directly picked from workbook.

Any other issue you have, do post here.

Strategy differs from person to person. Are you from commerce background?

Start from theoritical books. Once you complete reading the chapter, read and solve questions in workbook. Keep on revising.

I borrowed from a friend last year papers. But unfortunately, i dont have on PC. Give me some time.Once my exams get over on April 30, i might be able to find someone who has on PC and the person will forward to your email.

By paying Rs 100, one can also download paper and answers from the website. As i dont have latest (Jan 2006, Oct 2005) papers with me i might download them before exams. i will forward to you in case if i download.

Hi nupur,

I am also from delhi and have registered at CP Study Centre because it was near my home and direct metro link

Have a look at the icfai website. Under distance learning you will find details about CFA. If you want to sit for july examination, you need to do asap.

You can check out study centres and in delhi, there are 5-6 study centres. You can visit the centre nearest to your house to have a word with ICFAI staff.

Guys,

some reference books which I found useful in LEVEL-1 have been listed subjectwise.

Group Alpha:

Financial Accounting by Shukla, Grewal, Gupta. Its an amazing book guys. For commerce grads, it will definitely be a value addition and for non-commerce grads, it will be immensely useful in building up the basic accounting fundas and ideas.

Group Beta:

Quantitative Methods: Read the books "Statistics for Management" by Levin & Rubin and the book (sorry I dont remember the name now) by Damodar Gujarati.

Financial Management (Basic): Read books by I M Pandey and Khan & Jain. Out of both, I personally found Khan & Jain very useful but nevertheless the other one is also pretty good. For learning theoretical concepts, the book by Prassanna Chandra is also decent.

Group Gamma:

Management Accounting: Read books by SN Maheshwari and Jain-Narang. Personally, I found SN Maheshwari really good.

Economic Legislations: I read prep manuals from Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India (ICWAI) foundation and intermediate courses, which helped me score 2nd highest in India in EL with their help. So I guess it would be very useful to you too.

Just a note guys,
when I use the term "read", I mean to say that you should look at the examples and the solutions given in those books and if you have time, then make sure you practice them in writing coz thats whats gonna clarify the concepts in ur mind.
No doubt, the workbooks are good but at the best, you can get a very good feel of the kind of questions you will be asked in the exams by solving the workbooks. An average guy would need a bit more of practice and these books would be immensely helpful. Not to underestimate the past papers, solving them will give you a good level of confidence but make sure you do them only when you have completed the whole syllabus and done all the workbook examples and the 5 practice question papers given at the end of workbooks.

Secondly, I have got the theme from this thread and also in many PMs that I get, that people are hell bent on "clearing" the papers. NO ! THIS SHOULD NOT BE THE SOLE CRITERION.

You guys should also focus on understanding the concepts and be able to analyse based on those concepts. If that takes place, you shall clear the papers with stellar grades. No doubt clearing the papers is a must but your focus should also be on learning different things in finance, which will ultimately be useful to you and be the foundation stone for your career.

Anymore help you need guys, just PM me.

Tumtum.

hi
thanx babu & bunny 4 d reply.i wanted to ask shud i register 4 d july exams......will i be able to study in just 2 months time coz my b.com exams wud get over on 1st may.
nupur

Hi Nupur,

As you are from commerce background, certainly you can ace 1st group with 2 months study. I think its more then enough as all concepts are repetitive which you did in senior secondary. Infact most of the papers in L 1 have been covered in 11th, 12th, B.com.

Any other query, do post here.
