Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) from ICFAI_Hyderabad

Thirdly, after completing this is this of any use on its own , especially after the CFA tag is gone.

You need to brush up your general knowledge. When you are writing in a public forum, you have an obligation to write correct information, otherwise it looks silly.

PS: CFA and Master in finance are both awarded after completing gruelling exams.

Any takes on what this could mean - ?

If not then I will be obliged if you could guide me for the same by providing the exact url of CFA from ICFAI hyderabad. Thanks in advance and yes....happy children's day..

Hello,

There is no dedicated thread for CFA guys from ICFAI, hyderabad. So i thought it will be a great idea to open a specific thread focussed on CFA-ICFAI. We can discuss about exams, motivate each other, discuss about placements , about training classes and even form study groups in different cities. According to ICFAI prospectus there are over 20000 guys studying for CFA ICFAI and this thread will be useful to all of us.

I am Akhil, 23 years old living in delhi. 2 years call centre experience. But not in mood to again pick up a headset. Studying for ICFAI CFA level 1 group alpha. Exams coming up next month . Plans to complete CFA ICFAI by april 2008.

One great thing is that after completing Level 2, You get waivers for CIIA (Certified International Investment Analyst), Switzerland for national exam. You can directly appear for CIIA international examination and this is a great Global degree in investment banking field.

Lets join hands to help each other in clearing CFA ICFAI exams.

Hi friends...
this is my only second post in this thread, long after 10/05/2006, when Babu encouraged me to join the CFA program. Thank you, Babu, very much. I joined it in July'06. Recently I cleared 4 groups, upto DELTA, in plain 4 attempts. But now I am in trouble in two occassions.

At the time of admission, I've paid Rs.8000/- towards the internship program which was supposed to be available after GAMMA. I cleared GAMMA in July'07, but I've not been intimated for any such internship as yet. Can any body here tell me what is the exact procedure I should follow to get that? Do I have to apply for that seperately to ICFAI? If so, how should I apply?

Secondly, it has been declared by the ICFAI, as you all know, some days earlier that as soon as one clears the group DELTA, he/she will be eligible to get the CFA charter from CCFA. But surprisingly, the website of the CCFA has been withdrawn overnight, showing kiddish reason like "reorganization". Direct link in the page 'www.ccfaindia.org' navigates to a page which has no organization name. Neither is there any link for registering name, and obviously payment of Rs.6000/- in that site. Something like FAG has been croped up which is of hardly any use untill and unless we get the actual charter from CCFA. My question is simple...where we are heading to? Does any body have any clue? please help me out.
Thanks....

There was no need to pay Rs 8,000 for internship. You should put your own effort and networking to find an entry level job after CFA or Ms finance. Anyways, you can email or call ICFAI toll free. Cygnus have conducted internship and training in Hyderabad.

If you have cleared CFA, in my opinion you should try to find a job. I think you are in Kolkatta. HSBC is hiring hedge fund administrators in Kolkatta, genpact and PWC will also hire qualified CFAs. IT companies in salt lake hire qualified CFAs as business analyst.

Here is the link for CCFA : Welcome

ICFAI is establishing 7 different universities in 7 different states and every state will have its own URL like this: Welcome to the ICFAI University. They are transitioning to new websites.

My dear friend...

tell me one simple thing....without the charter from CCFA how could I claim myself to be a qualified CFA and get a job??

Secondly, the link for CCFA, that you have given, does not reveal the name "CCFA"; rather they are using a complete vague identity there, namely 'The Council". what the hell is "The Council" ?? Who will be ready to appreciate their members?

Thirdly, do you know what is the exact procedure one has to follow to get his/her name registered with the CCFA ? Should one e-mail them or mail them by courier or what?

Any clue?

Delhi University takes 3 years to issue a degree. So, do you think a candidate waits for three years to call himself a graduate ?

It will take upto a year to get CFA charter. Those who have passed in july are still waiting. CFA charter gets approved through board of members.

You should print out all your results and write CFA in CV. If an employer wants to verify, he will contact ICFAI directly.

Hello
i want to know bout CFA from ICFAI .

first of all i had done mba from symbiosis and now i am considering the idea of pursuing CFA.

CFA from ICFAI---- is it valueable? what is the paper style- multiple choice ques or essay type?
what s alpha ,beta? course fee? duration of the course?

pls give me right info as soon as possible so that i'll join this course in nov.2007 batch.

thanks to all

I dont thing doing ms finance from ICFAI is worth all the hard work. i have spent almost years on it and i dont thing the job prospects are bright. Firms prefer ti higher full time MBA's/CA's Am going to appear for Theta in Jan. can any help me getting a good job in mumbai, I do't want to work for a KPO. I also dont understand what kind of restructuring ICFAI is undergoing, ICFAI and CCFA sites are off for the past 2 months, how is The Financial Analyst Group going to change ICFAI's image.

Take a note of this

However, on September 4, 2007, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia reversed its decision to vacate the 1998 injunction against ICFAI after a motion to reconsider that decision was filed by the CFA institute

The placements mails from CCFA mostly ask for expereince for atleast 2 yrs so wats the point! whereas there are many fresh CFA's like me looking out for jobs.

Job search is dependent on personal capabilities.

CFA does not teach how to use bloomberg/factiva/hoovers/thomson financials/other financial databases, comparables, precedent transactions, how to write research reports, spreadsheet modelling, DCF/LBO modelling. One needs to put an extra effort to learn these skills (through internet) and put best foot forward during interviews.

yah mate...fairly reasonable idea...still I am bit confused over the future of CCFA and CFA charter.

Do you have any further idea about what may be wanted in an interview, other han KPO, from a CFA fresher?...as you have mentioned some systems knowledge...
please do share...!

CFAs from icfai are really having a tough time getting decent jobs in the finance sector. I have applied in so many places but haven't received a single call.its almost been 2 months and many of the CFAs are facing the same problem. I wouldnt advice anyone to do this course. though the course content is excellent but job prospects are poor

hi guys!
time and again i have reiterated that doing just CFA (4 groups) will not help at all in saecuring a good and a growing career. rather, students should consider finishing MS finance. MS holds a good reputation in the market. and, starting MFA(or giving cfa after 4 groups) was a big blunder made by ICFAI. CFA has to be earned not just given away. one should aspire to be a demand and not a supply. being a MS, you would be a demand, and in my opinon, after the amendments, CFA is just a supply. so work hard and get what you deserve.

Hi Amber,

I couldn't agree more CCFA have messed up the CFA course. Its like any one can become a CFA, however the real challenge is completing MS finance. Its very easy 2 complete the 1st four groups within 2years. The mails I receive for placements ask for atleast 2 years of expereince whereas they should consider finding openings for freshers.
