I am a CFA(MFA) from ICFAI University Tripura. I want to share my experience with you about the program. I believe now it is only MIFA.
About the Course
I found the course extremely challenging and very elaborate. The books for each subject have a lot of information, and you need to study the books and solve the work book problems religiously to pass each paper. If you are not from an accounting background you will find the accounting exam very difficult to clear. Most students get stuck in Group A.The first 3 modules are based on multiple choice questions and I found the first 3 modules little easier compared to the next 3. Studying for CFA (now MIFA) and working is never easy, so those who want to enroll for this course (now it is called MIFA) please keep that in mind!!
Exams have become tougher over time, solving past papers will help, but you will find the actual exam tougher and lengthier.

About Job Prospects
Now coming to job prospects, I have been searching for a job since a while (anywhere in India) but I must say, the response of recruiters are not encouraging at all.
Either most financial companies prefer people who have enrolled for US CFA or cleared Level 1 (strangely they ignore the ones who have cleared the CFA exam from ICFAI) or they keep a criteria of 1-2 or 2-3 years of work exp.
So don't expect a job that will pay you big bucks!! At the end of the course you must be prepared to work for peanuts in case you are lucky to get a job.

About ICFAI
They are very good at sending the study materials on time, conducting the exams, publishing the results on time.
They are very responsive to all your queries. You can always expect a response within 24 hrs if you email them. They also have two toll free numbers ( so you don't have to pay to call them).
What I find disappointing is that though they charge a council fee of Rs 10K before the final group exams, they do nothing to improve the employablity of CFA's.

Bottomline
CFA/MFA/MIFA exams are tough (it is tougher than any full time MBA finance program) but if the reward is not sweet, the entire effort goes down the drain. While MBA's from even a second tier B School get paid handsomely, fresh CFA's struggle to get even a decent job. So if you are joining MIFA program be sure it will give you a lot of knowledge if not anything else.

@ cfa spark , I could not have said it any better.

I keep hearing bad things about this course. From the knowledge perspective however this shouldn't be as bad as people say it is. I want to know if the course material is available anywhere ( Books, notes , downloads etc ) for use without actually enrolling for this course?

First tell me if you are a Man or Woman? It matters as I can give you the right solution only then. Also do you have to work for money or need a career in finance?

helli everybody,
all the best for july exams

dear himangshu,
the CFA offered by ICFAI, has now been stopped. The course is now called MIFA. earlier it was MS Finance/MFA and along with those degrees the CFA charter was also awarded. Now I believe you will only get MIFA.
CFA from ICFAI does not have much value among pvt companies, because they mainly hire from b schools with whom they have a tie up. Off course some PSU Banks recruit CFA's and Manager ( MMGS Grade II ) which is a good profile.
Again please check with ICFAI, if they are still offering CFA either as correspondence or as on campus course. The course content is very good and exams are equally tough.
Hope this information helps!!

that means it is of no use no. wat abt mba that is too!!??? n which course should i go after mba plzz guide me!!!

the course is very good and knowledgeable but i dont know about the job prospects. but yes cfa with MBA finance is a great combination.
but there are 2 kind of CFA's one from US and one from icfai so you can go through both the threads and decide for yourself.there are separate threads for both. i cannot compare them both as i am not the right person neither i want to.you can go though the starting pages of this thread. it'll help you to decide.
