CHSL & FCI PREPARATION

A is 30% more efficient than B. How much time will they, working together, take to complete a job which A alone could have done in 23 days?
A. 11 days B. 13 days
C. 20(3/17) D. 20(5/17)

so pull up ur socks , i m putting problems.
1. A litre of water evaporates from 6L of sea water containg 4% salt. Find the % of salt in the remaing solution.
a. 5.5%
b. 20/3%
c. 3%
d. 24/5%
option (d)
total salt in 6l of water = 4*6 =.24
salt will not get evaporated
so % of salt left = (.24/5)*100 = 24/5

A report consit of 20 sheets each of 55 lines and each such line consists of 65 characters . This report is reduced into sheet each of 65 ines such tat each lines consists of 70,characters . The percentage reduction in number of sheets is closest to
a. 20
b. 5
c. 30
d. 35

option a
no of character will be same ( let x be no of new sheets)
55*20*65= 65*70*x
x= 110/7 = which comes out to be b/w 15 and 16 (try not to solve in such cases)
% reduction = (4 or 5 /20) * 100 = btw 20-25
but as only 20 is given so go with it

bhai 20%.
total words in previous file are
20*55*65

new manner will consist the same words.
so

20*55*65=x pages *65*70
it will come 110/7 it is not totally divisible but we can assume that a page will be used as ful.

so 16 pages will be required

20-------------->>>>>>> 16

4/20*100= 20percent.
sahi hai kya?

One bacteria splits into eight bacteria of the next generation. But due tobenviornment, only 50% of one generation can produce the next generation. If the seventh generation number is 4096 millio(M), what is the number in first generation?
a. 1 M
b. 2 M
c. 4 M
d. 8 M

option a
let the starting gen be x
so in 2st gen = (x/2) * 8 = 4x = 4^1 x
3nd gen = (4x/2)*8 = 16x= 4^2 x
4rd gen = (16x/2) * 8 = 64x= 4^3 x
so by this trend 7th gen = 4^6 x or 2^12 x
now 2^12 = 4096 so no of bacteria in starting gen = 1 million

bhai you cannt take 15 pages but only 16.. logic is that you must need 15.78... but 15 wont be suffice

SOLVE THIS...
A does 80% of a work in 20 days. He then calls in B and they together finish the remaining work in 3 days. How long B alone would take to do the whole work?
A. 23 days B. 37 days
C. 37(1/2) D. 40 days
option : c
A does 4/5 of work in 20 days
in one day he does = 1/25 work or he takes 25 days to complete
now for 1/5 of work a and b work together for 3 days

=> 3/25 + (3/x) = 1/5
3/x = 2/25
or 1/x = 2/75
so b does whole work in 75/2 days

37(1/2) is the answer. sahi hai?

bhai awesome approach hai lekin
agar 4^7x hai toh 2^14 x nahi hona chahiye?

A machine P can print one lakh books in 8 hours, machine Q can print the same number of books in 10 hours while machine R can print them in 12 hours. All the machines are started at 9 A.M. while machine P is closed at 11 A.M. and the remaining two machines complete work. Approximately at what time will the work (to print one lakh books) be finished ?
A. 11:30 A.M. B. 12 noon
C. 12:30 P.M. D. 1:00 P.M.
option d
first of take 1 lakh as 1 it will create less confusion
work done in 1 hour : P = (1/8) Q = (1/10) R = (1/12)
so all together in 2 hours = (2/8+ 2/10 + 2/12) = 37/60 from 9:00 - 11:00
work left = 23/60
work done by q and r in one hour = 1/10 + 1/12 = 11/60 from 11:00
=> in 2 hours the will do 22/60 of work
therefore will will be completed by 1 pm

option b
there are two ways of doing efficiency ques
let if A take x days B will take 1.3x days
now 1 day work by A = 1/23 and by B = 10/23*13
together in 1 day = 1/23 (1+10/13) = 1/13 days
@anticipator.lad
thnks a lot..

@surya003
C. 37.5 days 100 %
@surya003 B. 12 noon

find the odd one out:-

answer is 15
7= 2*2 + (2+1)
15- koi logic nahi
31= 5*5 + (5+1)
57= 7*7 + (7+1)

kya sahi hai ya galat?
