As I was approached by some puys regarding FCI the nature of Job , Perks n Allowances, presenting the same here (already posted this on CGL 12 previous thread, replicating here) :
FCI though the largest PSU , has not done any massive recruitment in the last 20-25yrs as it is being seen in recent past years 2010, 2011, 2012 and the present one...in the cadres AG3 & AG2 Earlier FCI itself was conducting exams for recruiting the candidates for its vacancies like AG3 and AG2 etc... but now it is done by SSC and the successful candidates are recommended by it for appointment to above mentioned (a/m) cadres... Going through the anxiety and enormous curiousity and the increasing craze among youth to take up SSC exams... I am presenting all the details i am having with me to a/m questions.... these details are based on discussion and queries I had with senior employees there in FCI and also the junior ones in AG3 cadre... Salary : I will provide the break up here for AG3... (remember FCI is following IDA pattern and not the central Govt pattern ... CDA) Basic................................................................. 9300 DA 61.5%........................................................ 5719 HRA for lets assume A class city...... 30 % .......... 2790 ( the classification is same as in central govt pay structure) Lunch Subsidy .................................................. 250 Transport Allowance ........................................ 413 also 10 ltrs of petrol is given per month ............. 700 ( taking present petrol cost as 70/ltr) Quarterly medical allowance is 1500 so monthly will be............................................. 500 So total monthly salary is .................................. 19672 besides this LTC and bonus is also there...bonus in recent year was 15000... AG3 comes in S-6 category on the basis of pay structure. Pay is revised every 10 years ... last time it was in 2007. 3% yearly increment is there on basic pay and DA is revised on quarterly basis. Note : union has asked for 40% of basic pay as fringe benefits in place of the extra allowances...as mentioned above... which is already there in higher cadres.... they are hoping to be finalised upto 20% at least. Leave : Earned leave/yr ....... 30 days, Half pay leave/yr .... 20 days, Casual leave/yr.......08 days and RH ( restricted holidays) ......... 02 days.... even long education leave can be availed on mentioning genuine and authenticated reasons Nature of Job n Postings : AG3 Gen are posted normally in Central or Zonal HQs, Regional Offices, District Offices... nature of job clerical only. AG3 depot are posted in Depots mostly ... clerical nature only... though involves receiving of consignment ... making records .... issuing the consignment.... (for example for mid day meal etc) Working hrs is 10 to 5.30 normally (in HQs , ROs n DOs its Mon to Fri... others only IInd sat holiday) except in depot where it includes attending even in odd hours (... and for that OT is paid.).... one can have sufficient time to study n prepare for Civil Services etc... as told quite relaxed environment... aspirants can utilise fully the available leisure period ... Postings are mostly flexible (based on my talks to the employees)....as FCI has largest network... one can get posting of his choice if he seeks with genuine reasons. Promotions n Growth : Promotions in FCI is strictly on seniority basis and not by passing exams. One of the employees I talked to ... had joined as AG3 in 1995 and got promoted to AG2 in 2007.... However there is nothing to worry about as the present scenario is going to be a favourable one...."The FCI is planning to go for a major turnaround" .. (after all that hue n cry with elaborate discussion in parliament.... might have come across the news of distribution of laptops to the staffs in depots of FCI) ...as one of the senior official quoted that most of the present staff will retire in 2013-14... so there is maximum chances ... that those who are joining now as AG3 will be promoted to AG2 within a span of 4 yrs or it may be even lesser say upto 2 years because there will be huge no. of vacancies...also the FCI union of these cadres is the strongest union they say..and they have proposed for it already and so in another 4 yrs AG2 can become AG1 and then... Asst Manager... Deputy Manager.... etc depending on vacancies. Growth option is always there for the qualified and talented ones ... as for higher cadre vacancies (like HR Manager, IT manager, Engrs etc) there is no age limit for the FCI employees...but they have to write exams along with fresh candidates...after applying afresh... even in same cadre (AG3) branches can be shifted (like from Gen to Depot or technical) ... but then one will lose his seniority... in doing so.
..............All the Best to everyone who is taking this exam
