Which one will you choose and why?

Hello aspirants, Now that the results of different B-schools have been announced (or will be by April-end/May 1st week), I am sure all of you would want to pick the best college among those you convert. During this process of choosing the best B-school, don't blindly follow the rankings available on the net (as many are paid and some consider a lot of factors which may be irrelevant to you as a management student). Pick a B-school which aligns to your profile (more so if you have a work-ex) and aspirations. Colleges can be divided in clusters and choosing among the colleges of the same cluster should be done after discussions with alumni/current students of those colleges. For example, IIFT, MDI and NITIE might all be excellent options but if your interest lies towards Marketing you should pick MDI, and for SCM-Ops/IT, NITIE should be preferred. Therefore, don't choose the best B-school available but choose a B-school you feel would do maximum justice to you. Of course, the latter may also happen to be the best. š Cheers!

Guys, I have received many messages about the choice between IIM L & XLRI (even when results for L are not declared yet :p). See if you are interested in HR then go for XLRI any day, however for other specialization IIM L would be a better choice always.Ā
People might say to you that with ~400 odd students the competition is more in IIM L but trust me the competition is much more in XLRI (because of the absence of quota and more focus on the overall personality of the candidate for shortlisting, all students are of top quality). Unless you have stellar academics, great work ex profile along with extra-curricular activities or national level awards in your CV, then you will have a good chance in XLRI otherwise go for IIM L. Without any of those you wont even make it to the shortlisting list of the top companies during the summer placements at XLRI. You can even confirm about the cut throat competition in XLRI with the current batch students. Outperforming people at XLRI to get the best of the jobs is not an easy task
Besides most of the companies for consulting, product manager & general manager profiles are open for both BM & HR in XLRI (~360 students), so competition for these roles is way more in XLRI then IIM L and as for Finance IIM L is any date better than XLRI.
So, donāt take your decision based on the polls, think thoroughly and be honest & practical in assessing your profile on the above points. And yes IIM tag matters, you will know once you pass out of the college!!

Guys, I need to make a choice between SPJIMR(GMP) , IRMA( both of which are converted) and some new IIM's like Nagpur, Amritsar and Vizag( interviews yet to happen). Can you suggest on what to join and why? GMP is not the flagship programme and I have some reservations about salary and internships due to non availability of information whereas IRMA though unique is offering a full time flagship degree with majority alum working with corporates and not rural sector with good ROI. Investment is almosy 2.5 times with SPJIMR(GMP)
Please suggest.Ā
