# Infosys has announced that the company's board has appointed founder and former CEO and Chairman N R Narayana Murthy as Executive Chairman of the Board and Additional Director with effect from 1st June, 2013 as the company continues to lose market share to its competitors. He will set up a chairman's office to look after the strategy and business overall and he will also be assisted by his son Rohan Murthy. K V Kamath would step down from his position as Chairman of the Board and take up the position of Lead Independent Director effective 1st June, 2013.
# Avinash Chander, has been appointed as the new Scientific Adviser to the Defence Minister and Director-General of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) yesterday. He will also hold the post of Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development. He succeeds V. K. Saraswat, whose term ended on 31st May. Dr. Chander, who was recently awarded Padma Shri, was behind the successful development of 5000-km range Agni-V, enabling the nation to join the elite club of five advanced nations. Development of Agni missiles in highly restrictive international control regimes was possible only out of his technology, perspective planning and efforts.
