1. R. Chandrasekhar took overe as Nasscom President at a time when the more than $100-billion IT industry is facing growth pangs. The former Telecom Secretary need to steer the industry as it faces challenges such as immigration hurdles and global economic downturn. He will succeed current Nasscom President Som Mittal, whose tenure expires in January 2014.
2. M S Raghavan has been appointed as the new chairman and managing director (CMD) of IDBI Bank. The post was lying vacant since May 31 when the previous chairman R K Malla had demitted his office. Before this, Raghavan was the executive director with the state-owned Bank of India and a general manager at Indian Overseas Bank.
3. India's largest stock market National Stock Exchange (NSE) has launched ''LIX 15'' index, which will be available in the derivatives segment. This index will help to provide exposure to the liquid stocks. The index would be disseminated online from this Monday (8th July).
4. French 15th seed Marion Bartoli defeated Germany's 23rd seed Sabine Lisicki 6-1, 6-4 in straight sets to win her maiden Wimbledon title at the All England Club in London today.
