I too would not recommend day trading at all. I do it for the thrill. I do it to test my knowledge viz with the market. And more often than not the market humbles u.
ya thanq.
Puys!
I was browsing through different forumss and stumbled upon this thread.
Just wanted to say awesome thread and great discussion.

Any idea, why acquiring a company by issuing cash is better than issuing shares ?
What are it's pros and cons ?

Hi Puys,
I am seeing that the %change is different for same Script in NSE and BSE. And mostly the change is more in NSE, so is it Favourable to trade/invest on NSE??

For all securities (Not sure about z-catagory), you'll have the option of buying in BSE and selling at NSE, and vice-versa. However, the price variation at both the counters will not be significant, and any difference between the indices will be less than brokerage you'll be paying to square off the entities you have in portfolio in respective exchanges.
Nifty is a broader market and its daily turnover is far ahead of BSE, so in liqudity terms Nifty is a better place to trade (for derivatives).
Hope that helps,

One advantage that comes to my mind while acquiring a company by paying cash is that the EPS dilution is mitigated. Disadvantage is that it causes strain on the cash position on the company.
Usually markets view companies sitting on huge pile of cash as looking for potential acquisitions. eg. Infy
what r weather derivatives?
wat is the scope of its market in india?
what r weather derivatives?
wat is the scope of its market in india?
There are derivative contracts on everything that has direct or indirect influence on business or economy cycle. Weather has significant impact on crop and on various commodities, its correlation with commodities makes weather important entity - which is traded. Weather instruments are also traded on speculation and not only for hedging.
I dont know what you meant by scope...probably if you're pointing at volumes in weather instruments it is significantly low compared to other commodities derivatives.
Cheers,
can anybody suggest me a topic 4 final year project related to environmental economics etc............

Even power companies use these instruments for hedging. I remember reading about weather derivatives, while reading the story of Enron Corporation (thou' don remember exactly :banghead::banghead:)

I think carbon/emissions trading will be a very good topic,
cos it was the hot topic jus before the revelation of the financial crisis...

thanx guru.
consulted ma guide, though he was a bit reluctant at the starting he has agreed to help me in this.
can u tell me wat can be the topic in emission trading on which i can do project..........(one of friend suggested to do on : pricing of carbon credits but that's more mathematical than environmental.)

Ya even I will suggest Carbon Credit trading...You can work on -----
why the need of Carbon Emissions reduction was raised, and then on Kyoto Protocol development and then it was converted into Commodity to be traded b/w Developing and developed Economies.
You can mainly focus ur project on saving the Environment by Coupeling it with the Business sense(i.e. using pollutants for trading and earning Profit and inturn saving the nature).
Hi Puys,
Can any1 throw some light on Monte Carlo Simulation. I have read the basics of what it is and its uses. I am looking for some explanation with real examples.. probably an excel sheet explaining the numbers would be of great help...
Thanks in advance...
bhagwaan bachaye markets se !
dont know what the heck is going BHARTI !!
i got a couple of them at 415-420 ! And now it is trading at 350-360 ! All thanks to TRAI.. which is keen to implement pay-per-second call charges...
No wonder, why all telecom shares were in RED today.. i closely follow markets..
After MTN deal break-up, BHARTI was zooming and was at 445 level.. God knows when it ll come back to that now..
With most indian mutual funds bearish on telecom sector, i hope i get some returns in 5-6 months !!!
Any comments???
Also, guys what u feel - how ll telecom sector be affected by pay-per-sec ???

Monte Carlo methods are used for Optimization and Simulation, it is used widely in applied mathematics to determine optimal solution (maxima or minima) for a given surface (two to three dimensional). There are various other algorithmes like Karmarkar's algorithm, which is less costly, but has a tradeoff in estimating optimal result.
In finance, Monte Carlo is one way to simulate and estimate risk and voltatility while pricing assets or derivatives. Actual models which use simulation to estimate variability or risk are costly and are not usually freely available, I believe it is also not advisable to share any model which is not freely available at any public forum. (I think it is also against code conduct at this forum as well).

New per second billing likely to affect only 10-15% revenue. But stock has been down more than that. So expect stock to recover.
