Hello puys ..

I am newbie as far as Investment is concerned .
now I want to start investing ,but dont have a clue where to start

so guide me accordingly !
where to open a demat account ? ( i need it where there is minimal annual fee ,as m just a beginner..)

and then how to choose stocks . right now I want to jump with 25 k .
so how should I go about it .?

.

Puys markets crossed 5300 levels(still no good support at 5300).
We might even see markets at 5400-50 in next month. And 5500 call is at Rs.2. so I was wondering if it will be a good decision to buy 50 lot of 5500call which will expose me to risk @ RS. 5000 + 5000(Brok.) as the chances of call going up are very bright, considering risk is roughly Rs.11000:biggrin:.

Dont be too optimist, markets might also tank down, so one should hedge the risk and should not go naked long or short, let it be index or single name.
Greece is on a verge of defualt, yesterday Greece Gov 2012 bonds were traded at 19% yield, Spain was downgraded by S&P.; Portugal and Italy have become extremly weak and looking at EU for bailout funds. However, there is still no panic in emerging markets as of yet, but going naked long stands a big risk.

All the best,

PIGS are falling ... ! (portugal, ireland , greece, spain)
And STUPID in danger zone (Spain, Turkey, UK, Portugal, italy n dubai)
Indian markets though strong , due to stellar q 4 results...
Dont go long, trade cautiously.... Buy a long straddle...

Why do you think UK and Turkey - you mentioned it in danger zone ? FTSE is far mature and stronger than any South Asian markets {let alone India}. This is open forum and people come here for genuine replies/suggestions, please avoid posting just anything.

Nothing against your phrase for any country, I was bothered by "danger zone" can you please explain what was your rationale while including UK and Turkey in danger zone, dont see any Sovereign risk for these names.
can any one give a solution to this?

A security trades in the Spot market at Rs. 1600. Money can be invested at
10% p.a. The fair value of a one month futures contract on the security is _?

Under no arbitrage and real market scenarios, you can simply use excel function to calculate future value of any spot investment {capital infused today}
=FV{RATE,NPER,PMT,PV,TYPE}
For 1600 this should return 1613 at 10% annual.
Equity markets are volatile. U never when they are high and low. It is a total risky business. There are some stocks which perform well in this volatile market like L&T; and more. For the past few days L&T; has been performing well. The stock Aban had a huge loss as their ship had got sunk in the middle of the sea. We stocks with lower rates like Burnpur and suzlon. Due to fight between Ambani brothers I think Reliance is not doing so well. :cheers::cheerio:

L&T; just like other index stocks performs in sync with market. In Jan-Feb it shed 200-250 points.
The recent rally in stock was due to its great results.
Anyways i would agree with you to accumulate suzlon at these levels of Rs.55-58.
Also have a look at Rel Capital and Sterlite.

How indian investor can invest in US market? I got following answer but I want to know more.

has anyone on PG done it? how it goes?

Sitting here in India how can I trade, I mean buy and sell shares, at NASDAQ ?

Reliance Industries was down today by 20% at one point, because of freak trade. Wat do u think , was it a mistake or mischief? ( bcoz of that the sensex was down by 800 points for some 10 - 15 seconds )

The similar thing happened on 6th may , 2010 in NYSE wen dow jones industrial index fell 950 points for few minutes. SEC has ordered a probe on it. Fall of 950 in dow jones in a single day , i think , had never happened in last decade even in the worst times in 2008-09. correct me if i m wrong.

fair value is calculated on the rate of interest mentioned .. so monthly rate of interest becomes 10/12 = 0.833

so fair value wud be 1600 + 1600*.833/100 = 1613.33

Dude, which world's market are you talking about? NSE, BSE, moneycontrol nothing has anything about RIL's fall of 20% intraday!! :-o
RIL's intraday high and lows are not lower than 5% of its yesterday's close.
