Equity Markets

I am not comfortable with this secondary offer funda. When ICICI is already listed, why would investors buy more shares on this offer? And even if they do, the share price (per share that is) should come down. On ICICI, I only know that it is the #2 bank in the country (#1 being SBI). And ICICI is reputed to offer good gains to investors.
Can someone tell, what they are planning to do with the additional money raised by this PO? As I heard from experienced players, look at the basics of a company. And in case of ICICI the basics looks strong.
That was my half-baked, unruly knowledge about it. Some exp. guys probably can throw light.

Well , ICICI is the No.1 pvt sector bank in India ...and growing stronger ...
But the valuations for the FPO do not offer much discount and do not leave much on the table ...I think it wud be better to accumulate the stock once it falls ...It may be the same case as that of PNB ..FPO ...

So , i think it wud be better to purchase it from the secondary market itself ..and keep ur funds for the upcoming IPOs ...Tulip , PVR cinemas , Punj Llyod ...

how all u look at d PVR cinemas IPO...rate is 200-240rs....

as far as PVR goes..it has strong foothold in the whole NCR(delhi, noida, gurgaon, faridabad) market..approx 10 multiplexes odd..revenues is gr8...4-5 multiplexes in pipleline....it has a huge 1(11 screen-india's biggest) in bangalore...n scheduled 2 open 20-30 screens in mumbai within a year....giving a fight competition 2 players like ADLABS,INOX,FAME(shringar)....also

PVR is becomin aggressive in ditibution..it has got a deal with RGV's FACTORY...also...news is there that they may enter into an alliance with companies like MIRAMAX n SONY pictures....so pVR has a huge scope 4 growth....

seems i'm doin brand exercisin of PVR...(i'm a regular customer)

so what r ur bets??

I am not too positive on any company that has only entertainment as its source of revenue. No doubt, it won't go down even in worse times but... in domestic markets, I personally would prefer companies that have at least one more source of revenue. And then, I don't see an innovation coming through PVR multiplexes (I should not be commenting coz the last that I visited one was around 2 yrs back). Also, I visited other multiplexes in Jaipur and Chennai. And they offer equally good service. Except for listing gains, I don't see why people should rush to a multiplex, where the revenue grows only by number of customers.
cant tell much about the PVR IPO thing..
also like PVR....INOX group of multiplexes will also float an IPO within 6 months..
piramyd retails opened in the markets 2day n got not a huge response...closing price is around Rs131 against its offer price of Rs120...
what may b d reasons??
some telling its revenues r low....some tellin it dont have a strong market base...

Celebrity fashions(very much in news after Anil ambani has taken a stake in it) is also coming uo with an IPO shortly....price band as i know may be between Rs155-Rs175(not official)
my delivery picks would be-IDBI(92),REL CAP(440),PETRONET(64),ITC(132)....in brackets r rates which u could buy

hi junta ...

Again we have on horizons ..3 good IPOs ..PVR , TULIP , Punj Llyod ...and all the three at the same time and with potential for good returns ... ...again retail investors have to scratch their heads for some financial planning

Been alloted 35 shares in ABG shipyard ..finally lady luck smiled on me ... as no allotments in AIA ..Everest Kanto ...

Anyone else got an allotment...in ABG ?

Happy investing

Ciao

can anyoen tell me what is eps; p/e etc? i just cant understand what these things mean. how do these things help in decding whether one shd buy a share or not ?:whatthat:

p/e: Price earnings ratio of the share. Tells you at what multiple of FY earnings it is trading. Very high P/E=>overpriced.

EPS: Earnings per share. The amount the company earns when it sells the share to you.

i'd go for PVR coz chances of entertainment industry taking a hit are low....ppl will always watch movies and these guyz will continue to mint money

But how can you say that the next multiplex they open in jhumirtalaiya is going to be a hit.

the stock can easily tank.. if they loose your money on the 82 new multiplex halls they are planning.

If there new halls go bust then the revenue from current 20 odd screens wont be able to save you.

PS: I am also interested in the stock but will pick up once it lists.

abt the PVR IPO..lot of analysts r now telling...wait n watch till it lists n enter in attractive levels...

dont know wat to do...

in the meantime Shringar cinemas stock is buzzin on the charts...

ABG shipyard had a decent opening 2day...while triveni engg. stock moved a lot after openin at 53(against IPO of 48rs)...

sensex breakin all time highs everyday is makin investors jittery...

while investing people generally try to find oout companies which have lower than the industry average. P/E ratios are comaprable within the industry but looking at it from outside you cant compare cosmetics to consumer durables ;)

EPS is the net profit that a company has after interest, taxes per share outstanding in the market. Higher the EPS the higher the value of a share in the market as it shows better earning potentials. If you find a company that is low in MV but has high EPS, then the share is worth the money in long term. In short term you ll have to see teh environmental factors associated with the company, industry and economy to take a decision

How are the prospects for Gateway DistriParks?

I have observed this company since past 2-3 months... and it always seems going up and up...

My friend is highly bullish on this... that this will touch 350 easily (currently it is at 274-5).

hi ppl,

can someone tell me the difference between a share option and share warrants?
going by their definition both look the same to me!

thanks.

i think Provogue is a crap share man...be very cautious on this. the company has poor fundamentlas. it's owner is a big-time crook. price-rise, if it takes place, would be the work of insider trading by its owner only. notice the high it has come off. provogue's bubble bursted a few months back.

can you tell me more about this GATEWAY DISTRIPARKS ...what does this company do..which sector....turnover n all..

Anybody invetsed in PVR IPO??...watt cud be its probable listing date??

I am going put a buy on Gateway Distriparks @ limit (270) today. Anyone for this... yesterday it closed @ 279.60.

I am going to buy some 20 shares of this. What is the optimum rate at which I should buy??
