1. What are brokerages for different type of shares such as A,B etc?
2. While buying shares of Zee @ 238 I was charged brokerage+STT of Rs 7 per share. So when i will sell these shares, will I be charged the same amount?
3. Suggest soem good sites where useful information pertainig to stockes ( such as PE ratio, 52 week high and lows are available.

I am using icici direct for subscription. when and how should i actually pay the rest of the amount ?
I am not sure I understood this clearly. Given at 16, I subscribe for a larger number of shares. Then price discovery happens. Then I pay rest of the amount. Then they keep my money for 1 month before allotting shares and repaying me rest of my money, which is what is earning them 4% p.a. Is that what you mean ?
I applied for 250 shares at cap price. given it is subscribed only 84 times, i would get atleast 3 shares , right ?
I am not too sure of how the balance is paid , but generally you get about 2 weeks time to make the balance payment, either through your broker ( icici direct in this case) or direct payements to reliance.
no, assume you apply for 1000 shares ,which means you pay 16000 bucks. Now if you don't get a single share , then they will return the 16000 buck to you after a period of 45 days or so. What they enjoy is the interest earned on that amount. This happens in the case of all IPO's.
last but not the least ... 3 shares !!! dude wishful thinking !!! HA HA :satisfie:
I am posting first time in this thread and need some guidance in investing. I am looking for short term gains and recently ( Just 2 weeks back) invested in Biocon and Zee telefilms.I have few questions to ask---

1. Brokerages are more or less for all the types of shares. It mainly depends upon the broker what they r charging as most of security houses have 0.5 % + ss +stt for every kind of sale and purchase. But it also varies on the number of shares u purchase as for example in HDFC SEC they charge 1% for purchse of number of shares below 50. [ It wd be advisible if u contact ur trading firm abt it ]
2.First it depends on what no of shares u bought and it will be same for sell also. [ I also purchased 150 shares of ZEE @241 in lot of 50 but the brokerage was just 0.5 % ]

Regarding reliance ipo.
http://news.moneycontrol.com/india/news/ipoissuesopen/reliancepetroleumrpl/retailinvestorswillpayonlyrs16/shforrplipo/19/26/article/208981
1. why does rpl offer at rs.16 for retail investors ?
2. why is it an option for the retail investor ? who will anyway bid above that price when it is offered at 16?
3. suppose few guys bid for 57-62 band, can the cut-off price be much above 16? in that case, will i not get any share ?
4. what is the use of all these ? are they encouraging or discouraging the retail investor, with bid limit to 1600 on the upper side ?
some one explain plz....
Yo marc,
Just to add to what dukevarun put up... he's perfect at that the initial payment is 16 bucks and later you pay the difference (cut-off price - 16). Its surely gonna be 62 since RIL themselves are gonna subscribe to almost 90 Cr shares of RPL at 62! (Now thats the game they play).
The 1600 share limit is because retail investors can apply only for 1,00,000/- worth of stock. So, 1 lac / 62 = 1612 shares. Since the lot size is in multiples of 100, they have limited subscription per person to 1600. No encouragin/discouragin - this is plain regulation. Also, for a subscription above 50,000 you need to give in your PAN number.
Hope that sorts it out!

This is all fine but does it affect the chances for allotment if one bids @ 16 or 62 ??I mean, will there be any sub quotas amongst retail block??
Maybe if they get sufficient bids @ 62 (ie. if its oversubscribed @ 62 itself), wont they prefer these bids over those @ 16? Afterall this saves them a lot of paperwork and transactions afterwards
Hi
Can someone tell me about the ratio of the bonus share issued by Infosys yesterday. And is it wise to purchase before the record date of the bonus, or once the share goes ex-bonus.

The Infy board is meeting on 14th to discuss about the bonus issue. Nothing has been officially declared till now. But with Infy over 3000, a split looks imminent. Its nothing like better ex-bonus or cum-bonus. You will find people buying/selling under both the situations
Infosys is going to be d stock of d month...
the rumours abt share bonus is due to 25 years of existence and another reasn is crossing $2 bn revene mark...
i believe SATYAM is also crossing $ 1 bn mark...so sum rumours regarding bonus issue of dat 2...
wat say...infy can tuch 3600 i believe post bonus ...if any..
guyz i had a query...
my fren had purchased 100 nova petro..@157
bought on 13th march...coz of sum bonus newz 1:1 on dat..record date waz 20th march...but unfortunately he forgot 2 put them in his demat account b4 that date..
the price has halved but no issue of bonus shares..
ne idea wen will d shares b credited...if incase it wud...

Adding to the questions:
1. I have 2 Infy shares. If Infy issues bonus at 3:1, I wont get anything ?
2. Does bonus shares always comes along with split of shares ?
3. With Infy shares at its peak now, is it really advisable to buy few more ? what are the chances that it would soar more ?
answers appreciated...

Hi Marc,
Assuming that infy issues a bonus at 3:1 , in that case you will not get any bonus shares. What you will get is a check for the amount that you would have recieved. That will be 2/3 the cost of the adjusted share price. Eg. if the share goes ex-bonus at 3000 bucks at a bonus of 3:1 then in that case the price of the share will become 2250
ie 3 shares are worth 9000 bucks now 4 shares are worth 9000 ie each share is 2250
Now since you hold two shares you have 6000 bucks in infy, but as per the new price your shares are worth 4500 bucks so you will get 1500 bucks back ( which also happens to be 2/3 the price of the share) which is the quantity of bonus shares that you were supposed to recieve.
It is not necessary that bonus shares come along with a split, some companies do that eg. ITC did it last year, Sterlite is planning to do a split and bonus sometime soon etc
As for buying more infy shares ... hmmm ..tough one... that depends on how much moolah you got !!!
cheers
Hey Dukevarun,
Thanks for all your replies man...

I thought bonus was always extra... What you are saying is a share split of 3:4 isn't it...
In this case, i am getting literally nothing but as usual only hoping that share price of infy would rise on some grounds.

Hey guys, can anybody guide me on OBC shares. What should be done, should them be sold or held back, I have no plans to buy as no moolah with me right now 😞 .
Regarding some analysis, the max and min of OBC this year have been around 380 and 230, respectively and currently the price is at 245 (approx). It is lower than the average when we see the graph. Any suggestions experts.

PSU banking sector is currently at their bottom and OBC is not an exception.
It's a good share with reasonably low P/E.
But there are some other stocks in banking sector which looks better to me. The best among them is UCO Bank and ICICI bank. other good banking stocks are Andhra Bank, Bank of India and Allahabad bank.

Difference between a bonus share and Share split is that in case of share split face value of the share also reduces. In case of Bonus shares it remains same.

Gujrat ambuja expected to run up till rs. 115-117, till holcim offer gets done.
Better to sell till the time offer gets done, think it's more of hold then buy more
counters like prism seem interesting stocks at rs33 two days ago and then now at rs 36 odd. though its run up me advise picking it up at rs 33-34 levels which it would possibly touch. Think even India cemnts got some steam in it.
me betting on mcdowell, stock's target of rs 1,000.00, good buy @rs 820.00 after all big fan of its products:satisfie:

Well most PSU banks have the low p/e for quite some time and many like allahbad havent come close to its highs of what they did in October. Yes we havnt seen the rally in many of these PSU'S banks(except for a short while in Jan) like other stocks after the october correction but many for a very long time stocks like allahabd bank and OBC havnt moved. If one wants to invest in them then one gotta be vey patient and also think theres better places to fetch higher returns as compared to PSU banks. And yes do believe that the downside is ltmd in them....
stocks like ICICI bank not the cheapest but one can expect much more from these stocks
