Equity Markets

Hmm, so literally short selling means selling something which you don't owe offhand.........

Is this legal in India and do online brokers like ICICI Direct, etc allow short selling?

hey fellos, what could be the possiblity of a rate cut from RBI? if tht happens then we could find interest rate senstivie sectors like auto, real estate zooming. unitech and dlf would definitly go up.also read tht FOmc meeting coupled wit q2 would propel sensex further..althought i wish it would consolidat at these levels. comments plz..

there is a bull market fro sure as the sensex got profited only the bse 30. other stocks are still stagnant, slow on growth.. so expect a party on sensex during this festive season..

at what price will power grid list as per market news ?

Yes. Roughly that range.

But, retail investors have not got the 1:5 ratio in terms of share allotment. On 1L application - 1875 shares, they have alloted 286. 😐

In my opinion RBI will not cut rate on OCt 30. Oil is stil trading @ $80.. also food prices are on the rise.. I think RBI will wait for FED policy for one mroe quarter adn then possibly cut rates (most probably next yr JAN)..
Neway inspite of all tehse i thnk markets will hit new highs.. in teh range of 19k before any major correction...

P.S October has been the worst month for the stock markets... ( as per data from ET (considering 91 - 07)...

I appreciate your view abt the company.. but I, for one, sold all of them around 105.. my view is tht in an (imminent) correction, I can re-enter the stock at lower levels and then can stay invested..

Hey puys, i am doing a lot of studies on the working of MFs nad want to ride the market by the begining of the next fiscal year. But i have some doubts and appreciate if someone clarifies. Here they are.....the money rate is increasing by 6-8% every year, the rupee is pacing up against the $, the booming sensex, will all they go in harmony to secure our investments? since the re is marching, we must checkout for the developing economies to invest(sectorial). But, my question is can we still believe in MFs? Or else what must be our strategy 2 invest?

What is your suggestion on the guidance on Q2 results?
How they may affect the market as markets normally react positive to good results but as market as already trading at so high,so what can one expect from here?

ya u can ofcourse re enter....but take few things into account...

1. The tax deducted on long term capital gains is 0. So now s u hav sold ur shares ... it will only b beneficial 4 u to re purchase them wen der price goes down by more than 16-17% (taking the brokerage into consi deration...coz now u r paying twice for brokerage)...

2. Over the period of time it has been proved that if u keep shares for long term dey give u more return..

3. I personally has found that once u sell ur shares... to come back n purchase dem again bcoms difficult..it happened wid indiabulls...ipo at 17 listed at 25..sold all the shares ...but now its 600...also u never know the rite levels...look at pfc it listed arnd 110...markets got corrected ..but it (pfc) never came down enuf ......(considering the above mentioned facts..)

Well at the end of the day it depends upon individual n his strategy...once correction happens..m looking for sum other fishes to catch...dey looks very attractive...

Good man..u hav earned a lot of money so celebrate...:drinking:

i believe the markets are expected to see corrections after the festive season gets over. This period that is run up to diwali has traditionally been a buying period.

After diwali we may see over-rated stocks going down but the fundamentally strong shares are expected to retain their value.

The expected bear phase would be short and should be ideal to buy some more stoks.

Those interested can use this time to gather capital and research individual stocks.

it is advisable to sell powergrid@115 ? my parents have been alloted 2 lots of 286 shares each ? or what price can we expect after 10-15 years? as we know by 2020 india may be a developed nation. Should we hold on shares till then ?

Itna lamba kisine ab tak nahi socha hoga.
It all depends on what's ur risktaking capacity and holding power. I have sold one lot and am holding another. So, it's upto you! 😃

If u r looking for a long term hirizon...dont sell it...its going to give much more return in 4-5 yrs time frame..power sector is bound to grow...hence power shares will move up..

1 more thing is correction is xpected ...so cud sell dem at price which u feel is gud..and them buy dem again at lower price...but..wen the corrections will happen..wats the rite price to sell ???etc etc..is diffcult to tell...my advice is if u a long term investor then dont sell them...and consider it as investment..:)

Power stocks are for long term the longer you hold the longer will be the return

so there is no point in selling these stocks and if possible you can go for buy of stocks like NTPC, REL, Bhel, these have very high potential to give u very very good return

also go for the ipo of Reliance Power and REC.

does any1 have idea about job data and other eco. data of the US..coz if its bad thn another rate cut in FOMC meeting end month..thic cld lead to another rally..mayb another 700-1200 points?? who knows myab forcing the rbi to cut rates too to prevent further apprecuiation..

FM isn't comfortable with market movements, rbi is considering rate cuts.
These are clear indications that govt will try to tap markets.....but as all say its not possible to predict markets.......
Rite now, market is at PE multiple of around 25,MFs are not investing(NAV same),rise is mainly b'coz of hedge funds(recently govt has approved entry of 5 hedge funds).
It all depends on your holding capacity & risk apatite.
