Hey even I havent received any mail yet.

@nitya.saxena You wil receive it soon...
For all IIMC call getters
Emails are being sent in batches starting today. You would get the emails by today evening or monday morning and also the hardcopy letters next week.

@Muneza and @lkjena1980
Regarding the interview modalities, I have been asked numerous questions, I am giving a brief overview of the interview modalities here:

1. The group level interview would take place on march 22 from 9 am onwards. In case you have been short-listed for two groups. You would have two group level interviews.
In this interview, the panel consists of the the faculty members of the respective group (A panel may be of 2 to 4 faculty members). The questions expected are based on your prior work experience, Publications (if any), your area of graduation etc. Having a brief idea of research area and research topics would be helpful though no one would expect a full fledged research proposal in interview.
Also the interview may also consist of bais mathematics questions. Regardless of your area of specialization from Sociology to operations, I would suggest you to brush up your basic mathematics of topics like probability, algebra, P&C;, basic calculus etc. The amount of mathematics to be asked in the interview would range from basic and minuscule in areas like sociology and BS and a bit advanced in areas like OM, ORSA and MIS. In this round certain technical questions from the major area might also be asked. the possibility of technical questions being asked is fairly high in areas like Finance, PPM , Sociology and marketing etc.

The duration of this interview can vary between 20 mins to 50 mins

2. The results for round 1 would be declared on March 22 evening itself and the interview on march 23 would be by research committee. The general aim of this interview is to check the motivation and suitability to program. the focus questions would be like " Why FPM", " Why research", " Why IIM calcutta" etc. although technically anything under the sun can be asked. There have been instances where people have been asked mathematics questions in this round as well.

The FP students of IIMC would organize a interaction session on March 21 evening for candidates to interact with students of their area and get the doubts resolved.

In general I would advice you to go to the faculty web pages and understand the type of work being done in the department you have applied to and see if anything interests you in particular. Revise basics of standard 12 mathematics and know yourself, your motivations and your CV.

Also few questions were asked about the profiles and work experience of candidates. Please note that you would not be competing against anyone for selection for the program. You would be judged based on your suitability and motivation for the program irrespective of anyone else being interviewed. We have people with 0 work ex to people with 18 years of work ex. So work ex would stand neither for nor against you.
@buffer I have been shortlisted for PPM. Can you please comment on wht kind of technical question are expected from this area.
@nitya.saxena I am from MIS so personally have no clue about that. Would ask people in the group and update regarding PPM questions.

I received email for IIM Indore interview today in HR

@buffer - Hi, Could you also ask the OM FPM guys there on the questions that they were tested on during the FPM Interview ? Thks
@buffer Thanks alot for the insight...will you plz let me know some aspect to focus majorly in Fianance area...from your friends or some one??? Thanks..
@buffer Thanks for enlightening the modalities...Will surely work on as advised....

I have prepared a research proposal for FPM interview at IIMC. Do I need to memorize it or can I take a hard copy or soft copy?

What are the interview questions for the first an second round?

I know the kind of anxiety each one of you have regarding the interview process. But I would suggest is that all of you know your CVs better.

The questions asked in interviews is very diverse and varies from person to person and nothing can be generalized or standard questions prepared for the same.

E.g. One OM student said that he wants to work in OM field as he was motivated by "Goldratt's book". His complete interview was on Theory of constraints. Now it is highly unlikely that anyone else would be asked the same set of questions.

The FP program is very individualistic and research is path which is mostly tread alone. It is this ability that faculty members try to check in candidates. The questions would be very specific to you and would be based on what you have written in your CV, SOP and application form.

If some PPM candidate has written that he is interested in E-governance then he should expect a 30 min discussion on merits and demerits of E-governance.

Finance area interviews are also application specific. If a candidate has no prior finance background, he would be asked basic financer questions and more on why finance. Expect a brief statistical questions. But if someone is a CA or M.Com. you would be asked about balance sheet and annual statements etc.

In short the interview Process is very individualistic, just try to be ready to defend whatever you have written in your application form. If you know your application pretty well, you already know 90% of the questions that can be asked.
Most of the interview is based around that only. A few basic maths questions here and there are additional.

About research proposal, as already mentioned, research proposal is optional and not mandatory. Having a brief idea about what you want to do and why is useful. You are not expected to learn it by heart. If you wish you may keep a copy of the proposal with you, just in case.

got FPM Q&OM; call from IIM K. Int on Apr 10.
