That way it is difficult to quantify.There is not one general equation for that.It depends on your prior background and work experience.If you are from a top B-school or already working with IT division of a financial institution, FRM should help you to switch to finance.So my point is there is no one equation linking the profile you get and the certifications you have.

I plan to appear for the FRM 2011 Exam Part 1. I have read good reviews of Pristine for FRM Classes. Anybody Interested in joining Pristine Classes from Delhi? Also does anyone know when do classes start in Pristine?

I am also open to joining other classes like IIQF or others. So if anyone else is interested please respond to this message....

I talked to the concerned person at pristine. The classes are starting from 12th feb and he is ready to give good discount if we can form a group of 5. Please reply asap whoever is interested.

From where I can buy material in Mumbai for FRM L1 except laxmi Xerox. laxmi xerox wala said that material will be in the market by 28th feb which is too late..I want to have material ASAP so anybody tell me the source...

I will be taking admission this yr in MBA. I have already cleared CISA certification. Could you please advise me, which one of CFA or FRM will be better? What kind of job profiles can I expect?

Since you have not yet appeared for CFA L1,if you want to appear for CFA, it will have to be in December 2011.You will be in first year of your B-school.In top IIMs, you will have a bunch of students who have already cleared one or two levels of CFA. However in your 1st year in a top B-school,if you want to appear for CFA L1 in December, you will really have to be on the go. First year is damn hectic.Before you understand what is going on, half the year is already over and it's the time for summer placements (which generally happen in November). So I really doubt how much feasible it is to appear for CFA L1 in December 2011. One thing is CFA L1 syllabus more or less coincides with 1st year B-school syllabus in top B-schools.So it is definitely not impossible but once you get to a top B-school you will realize that millions of things are going on simultaneously in the first year.

Other thing is that since you would not finish CFA L1 before summer placements, you cannot benefit from that for your summer placement interviews.Generally IITians with good CGPA or the ones with CFA L2 (and L1 to some extent) can get into top I-Banks on campus for summer placements.

Considering that, if you appear for FRM Part 1 in May, that would help.You will have at least some financial certification on your CV before summer placements.If you can really slog hard and give everything to preparation, you can also appear for both FRM part 1 and 2 simultaneously in May.I prepared for both FRM parts in 2.5 months time.However I had covered many of the things in my B-school in the 1st year.Also completion of 1st year in a top B-school gives really useful insights that I could rely on.I also did not have full time job so I could spend long time for my FRM preparation. If these conditions do not apply to you and in case you want to prepare for FRM parts 1 and 2, you will have to be on your toes. If that is not manageable, appear for only part 1.

I hope this helps. Again same disclaimer applies: I have written this from what I have observed in B-school and from my own experience of taking FRM. Take it with a pinch of salt.

Can I appear for both levels of FRM in one attempt in November.I am appearing for CFA L1 this june.Also I wanted to know if there is any similarity between the CFA curriculum and the FRM curriculum.
