I have a few concerns w.r.t the key posted in the gate website
I answered C but the key says A
I guess they have considered that whoever has least standard deviation.. that person is more consistent.. but his avg. is low.. hw can we call him consistent? If there was another option with average as 2.1 runs but standard deviation 0.5, would we select him to be more consistent because his standard deviation is low?
I have already posted the formula i found on cricinfo-> consistency measure= avg./standard deviation .. i.e., avg should be high and deviation should be low to be consistent... which seems more sensible.
in which case,
consistency measure of K=31.2/5.21= 5.98 and that of M= 54.4/6.22=8.745.. so M is more consistent..

I answered D but the key says A
My Explanation.. equal to holds only when mean square value is equal to square of the mean.. in other words '=' holds only when the function is constant and deviation is zero.. and we do know that a constant function cannot be a random variable.. if we know what value the function takes in the future=> its not a random variable!! So for a random variable shouldnt it be option D?

So anyone who went to IIT Gandhinagar ? I just came back yesterday night after 4 long days ! I cleared the written test but interview was not good ! They used to make every candidate stand at the board and draw and answer...they did not bother to take my intro and all... turnout of students was very low with only 60-70 mtech guys ...i think atleast 300 people must have cleared the cut off /1200 shortlisted... i did not find other candidates very good as well..so dont think they are going to take many students
