In PCM why is the bandwidth half the bit-rate???

and there are some questions in kanodia which take bitrate=bandwidth.

So my ques is when to take bitrate=bandwidth and wen to take bit rate*0.5=bandwidth??
Can some1 clear the concept?

Anyone here answering ACE Online test series ???? Can you tell me one thing ? Why every test is answered by less than 400 guys !!!! If only few ACE students are answering then who are they ? Does that number include probable top 10-20 AIR regular students of ACE or guys like us ?
