Hey Venom,
I'm convinced to buy 11th ed.. long story cut-short., can U let me know is it only a single book i.e. 11th ed OG or some other supplements to be bought ? I'm a bit confused about that..

In addition to OG(Official Guide for GMAT Review, 11th Edition), GMAC has come up with 2 more books this time -

The Official Guide for GMAT Verbal Review

The Official Guide for GMAT Quantitative Review

OG is must. For the other 2, you need to take a call. All of them have retired GMAT questions.

Hey Hyderabad Junta ,

Nice to see an active thread going on for GMAT preps ! Am Vignesh aka Vicky and i would be moving into Hyderabad for my work on 8th from chennai and am looking at giving GMAT sometime by june/july too . Would be great to know you all and do some combined preps to crack GMAT .

This is the wrong place to post this so please pardon me , would it be possible to get a flat for accomadation in and around begumpet cos thats where my office would be .

Yeah! Time for action now. So guyz gear up and share your action plans. How have you started the preparation? What books to begin with? I have picked up a copy of Kaplan GMAT and planning to start with it over weekend.

-oon - As in 'jaatoon' 'aatooon' 'kartoon' ... means I am ... going, coming, doing
yarron - Very respectable way of refering to someone in the 2nd and 3rd person

I have been cribbing abt not finding time and the works ... and the situ. hasnt changed much. But I did get the wheel rolling this week ... Have begun by reviewing the basics of QA ... which I am horrible at ... yes sir ... I am an engg. who sucks at Math. And I feel that any person who is not that good at QA must begun here. There are a lot of re-discoveries that you will make.

After hitting that off ... its off to the practice problems ... first the problem solving part then the DS.

Hi All,
Just gave KAPLAN's online diagnostic Test. The scores:

Scaled Score Percentage Below
Overall : 630 90
Quantitative : 42 88
Verbal : 33 70

Can sumbdy help me out in an analyis? I mean, Can junta post their scores for Kaplan Diagnostic Test for a compartive analysis? I'm a bit worried as 630 is a low score.. :(.

I am taking GMAT in this April.
Work Ex - 2.5 yrs in IT

I started prep just a week before. I went to the Princeton office in Begumpet. Talked to them and they are ready to give me 20% discount. But then it still costs more I thought and didn't join.
I took the Princetonreview online test (free) in their center and got a score of 660. (QA - 50, VA - 30) I am not very sure of how good this score is. But I know the area I have to work upon is VA. I found Scoretop as a excellent site for prep. And planning to take VIP membership in a day or two in Scoretop.

Have any of u guys tried the 1000SCs yet...I have solved 50 of them. Didn't check the answers though. It will be good if we can get the correct explanations for those qns. If people here want to discuss on the GMAT qns then we can start a yahoo group or drop our qns here.

What say???

FYI( if U already donot abt it).. Kaplan's test is avbl only for those who buy the book.. and once U register onto their website kaptest.com.. in 2-3 days, ur free courses will be shown.. U just have to register to access it.

Hi Vibes

I took a Kaplan test some time back and ended up with a 660 too. My Verbal was low too ... 33 I think.

There was another post by "Keyser" too who had a diag. score of 630.

Here is what I think of these scores ... they are not stellar by any standards ... but then again ... they are not a true indication of your score if you were to take GMAT right now, without any additional prep. This has been said time and again by everyone whos got 700+. So your conclusion that you should work with VA is all I'd suggest you to derive from the score. Dont read any more into it.

Your real score will ... IMHO ... depend only upon how much stamina you have to sit through the real deal and how much practice you have had. These tests are a bit tougher so the scores are bound to be lower.

Whats with the "VIP membership" that you have mentioned ... whats that all about ... please share some details.

I gave another diag test yday.. ther's a free GMAT DIAG avaliable online/ dwnloadable at crack-gmat.com. I scored 630( QA-49, VA-25) again! Though, a low score I thoroughly enjoyed the QA part of it.. luked gud standard to me! But as usual got royally screwed in Verbal..:( Need a gruelling practice to pick on VA side.. like Zilch was mentioning..
Guys, I got the 1000 SC Collection BUT w/o answers.. cn somebody share the Q & A set ?

Hey man ... no issues with the diag. scores ... just keep hitting the VA part ... I am sure it can be improved ... I hope so at least.

I couldnt help notics that your location is set to Germany ... and a lot of other dudes ... me included ... are hydi.

me new to gmat... an unsuccessful cat aspirant now in the gmat mode aiming for ISB next yr....

me a s/w engr wit 33 months of exp and pathetic acads..

can ppl here help me in starting off with my gmat prep... jus a few basic Qz

1) want to write a diagnostic test before i kick-start my prep. Which one do i attempt ? n where exactly can i get access to the test ? ( is it online or on CD )

2) where can i get the original or photocopied OG 11 or OG 10 in hyd ? n also the princteton review and Kaplan books too.

3) anyone gud links where i can download stuff for my preps ?

me plannin for my gmat in may 2006

For OG 11 try Book Selection Centre in secunderabad ( paradise), saw a couple of them there. wud cost u around 1650 bugs.

For downloads i wud suggest www.scoretop.com
www.gmatclub.com, www.testmagic.com and businessweek forums and google is the best source just type GMAT and u will get loads of info there.

Institutes which i know for gmat are IMS, princeton and Visu . not know how gud they are in terms of faculty and quality( princeton is gud IMO) as i am also planning 2 give a shot a GMAT this june.

Planning to apply for fall 07 in IVY League as well as ISB.
