Guys, I recently bought the kaplan GMAT premier progam (with CD) ... The book seems to be pretty good too...
I have heard that there is another book called Kaplan 800... Does anyone here know how different this book is from the GMAT premier programme and is it worth buying that book? Also does it come with a cd ?And how much does it cost?
Hi guys.
Am from Calcutta.
Looking for material for GMAT from some kind soul.
Tried looking around college street but in vain.
Any leads?
Thanks in advance.

hi arun,
I used Kaplan 800 in my preps. Infact the only book i went thru twice. The questions in Kaplan 800 are from the Most difficult bin. So they must be taken after some serious preps only. And if u have done ur prev preps seriously, Kaplan 800 will expose most of the shortcomings in ur preps. If u get thru this well - u can assume (or rather believe) that u r on track.
I got it for 600 in Chennai. The book does not come with a CD.
If u wanna compare Kaplan Premier and Kaplan 800, the former is like a foundation course while the latter is like an advanced course.

okay this might seem a questionable scruple...but what is this OG11 about
n where can i get it.....
humour me...kindly....

To the MODS...
Wouldn't it be awfully useful to have an article of about 2-3 pages which just lists the steps for GMAT Beginners? I mean something of the sort of 'First 10 Steps' which could include registration on mba.com, or abbreviations for books, course material, which papers to begin with, etc etc...:
i am not aware if such a store already exists. Just wanted it to be in one central location as this is the most oft repeated question across threads.

Please take time to read through the various threads. Search is a good feature as well.
FYI, OG11 is the" The official Guide to GMAT Review, 11th Editon". Its published by the GMAC

Rajatc,
I initially thought the same but you see the first steps differ from person to person. For someone who has appeared for the CAT twice or so, there is nothing needed. Others might need some plan. There are a couple of threads on the GMAT section where people have posted their preps. That would be good refrence to use.

hmm...
not a bad idea. but the thing is there is no universal method to tackle the GMAT. But i guess something on the lines of a generic, all inclusive gyan book can be written.
Will speak to the mods reg this and see if i can help.

Hi Guys,
Pardon my ignorance, but can some one please point out the difference between OG 11 and the other two siblings OG11 Verbal and OG 11 Quant. Do they contain separate material or is the former a merge of the latter two.
Thanks,
Rajat
@ suvidh

Rajat,
I have all the 3OGs but yet to complete them, Of whatever i have done in the OG so far, i do not see overlap. The sigular OG's have lesser practice questions. The combined one has a lot of questions ( I do feel that there is an overlap between OG11 and OG10, few questions though..) If you are looking to buy just one of it. buy the combined OG. its good notes on AWA as well
:)

OG 11 has around 400 Qs each for Math and Verbal.
OG Math review has some 300 odd Qs.
OG Verbal review has some 300 odd Qs.
There is no overlap in the questions given in these 3 books.

Thanks InBlue and Iday. I guess the best bet would be to go ahead with the OG 11 combined and then hog a library for the other 2. InBlue and Iday, are you gunning for 08 admission as well? Please post your profiles.

This is the MILLION DOLLAR Question!! I guess one of the starting points could be your eventual goal, where you wish to see yourself 10-15 years down the line. Trust me, it will be enlightening to just sit back and take a look at what you have, what you want, and how to get there. Might eventually help you tons with your app's as well. You might be able to put forth your points much more lucidly.
