The United States petroleum industry's cost to meet environmental regulations is projected at ten percent of the price per barrel of refined petroleum by the end of the decade.
(A)The United States petroleum industry's cost to meet environmental regulations is projected at ten percent of the price per barrel of refined petroleum by the end of the decade. -by the end of the decade modifies 'price per barrel incorrectly'
(B) The United States petroleum industry's cost by the end of the decade to meet environmental regulations is estimated at ten percent of the price per barrel of refined petroleum. -by the end of the decade modifies 'The United States petroleum industry's cost' incorrectly
(C) By the end of the decade, The United States petroleum industry's cost of meeting environmental regulations is projected at ten percent of the price per barrel of refined petroleum. -by the end of the decade modifies the verb 'to project' incorrectly
(D) To meet environmental regulations, the cost to The United States petroleum industry is estimated at ten percent of the price per barrel of refined petroleum by the end of the decade. -by the end of the decade modifies 'price per barrel incorrectly'
(E) It is estimated that by the end of the decade the cost to The United States petroleum industry of meeting environmental regulations will be ten percent of the price per barrel of refined petroleum.
Shud be E ...explanations inline
Wow! Sid, thanks.
Darth, thanks for the clear explanation.
Like i mentioned in my post, i was a little skeptical about it. Glad we nailed it.
IMO: D
This one is tricky!
in context to 'future' ....D is the only choice that has the "will be" that supports this context. One might confuse that "they" is unclear, but it surely is...as "majority" is singular and 'they' refers clearly to one and only plural noun..."power stations".
While E is tempting and sounds right, "....would or could be" is wrong usage. Needs to have "....would be or could be" atleast.
Help me with this one....

Vikram,
I agree with your answer and explanation but would to point out a mistake in your explanation.
"Majority" is plural here like it is in most of the circumstances. Majority of a collective noun is always plural and majority is always used with countable items.
You can find the evidence of above rule in this sentence itself. Majority of... view nuclear power...
In light of this fact, "they" is indeed little ambiguous but other options are even worse. Hence D as best of the worst.
Please feel free to counter argue :)
IMO: D

For 1, yes you are missing something.
Modeled after is correct idiom. "that of his mother" is needed to indicate that the face of the statue was modeled after the "face of his mother".
IMO : A
A and B are close enough. In B not sure whether "after that of " is properly used.. so going with A
please explain if i am missing something.
IMO: D

'a majority of international journos' is plural here as indicated by the verb 'view' ... so the pronoun 'they' can cause pronoun refernce error.
A,B,C,D have this error

as 'they' can cause pronoun refernce error in A,B,C,D hence E is correct answer.
