Hi Puys,

Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, is proud to inform you of GL Connect, a platform wherein Management aspirants across the country get a chance to network & associate with the Institute. Going beyond the regular agenda of discussing the School, application norms, addressing FAQs etc., this year the event offers much more.

GL Connect will present live discussions with the Dean, Dr. Bala V Balachandran and eminent speakers such as Shantanu Prakash, Chairman, Educomp Solutions, Amit Agnihotri, Chairman, MBA Universe, Ashish Bharadwaj, Managing Director, GMAC-INDIA, Mr. Mohan Lakhamraju, Stanford Business School Alumnus and Ex-VC/PE Investor etc. Keep checking the Great Lakes website to find out which speaker is there in a given city.

Since inception of the institute, this platform used to be called Meet the Dean, with only Dr. Bala addressing the MBA aspirant audience. From this year, we have re-christened the same event as GL Connect and brought in a wider range of speakers to provide a global management perspective.

We are planning GL Connect as a four-city event, the details of which are given below. Registrations are already open for the event to be held in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. Please find the details below-

23rd December 2011 - Delhi
28th December 2011 - Chennai
3rd January 2012 - Mumbai
4th January 2012 - Bengaluru

Hi

I am planning to join classes for GMAT by Jan end and take the test by May. I am really confused on where to join - 4GMAT or Princeton. It will be really helpful if someone can throw light on both the Coaching Classes.

I would say 4GMAT is better than princeton..do a reasearch on everythin then select for coachin centre

I have also been to 4GMAT and I can say its pretty good , not sure about Princeton though since I havent gone there , but the general consensus is that 4GMAT is better than Princeton.

I am done with my GMAT and am planning to sell off my GMAT books .I have some Manhattan guides(Number properties,Foundations of Verbal),OG,Kaplan 2011 and the 4GMAT material set , leave a private message if anyone is interested

Hi,
I am planning to join 4GMAT.Let me know if it is good. And also let me know how the verbal coaching is?

Please advice on the books apart from manhattan books to use.

Thanks in advance:):):):):)

Hi I am Planning to Prepare for GMAT. What will be advisable, whether to join a coaching institute and prepare or to prepare f our own with materials.
Also i am planning to take both CAT as well as GMAT. Some says it is difficult to prepare for CAT and GMAT parallelly. Please advice on this.
(Note: I have 3 + work experience in IT. this is the first time i am going to appear for GMAT)

Hi Vishal Das

I have not finalised on whether to join fast track course(5 weeks) GMAT program of 4GMAT or Kaplan(Chopras).
I had heard 4GMAT quant classes are very good but verbal classes are not up to the mark. Can you please share your thoughts on this.
Also could you please share your thoughts on coaching of Kaplan(Chopras).
Thanks a lot in advance.

@Mbamonster-Manhattan is more than enough for you to get a 700 + score

@Smvjkumar-Its better you join a coaching institute if this is the first time you are taking up the GMAT/CAT.

Also my personal advice would be to focus on one at a time. The CAT and the GMAT are very different exams and you would tend to lose focus if you concentrate on both.Ideally you can start off by preparing and taking the GMAT in the next 3 months and then go on to CAT(this is if you are 100% planning to start off your MBA in 2013)

Hi Adri_fred

Thanks for the Advice you gave me. Also could you suggest a good coaching institute in chennai. Is CL good?

Am not sure about CL since I have not attended their classes mate so cant help there.

Now coming to 4GMAT verbal. The classes are good. The people who teach there are pros and you can get a good grounding in the verbal section. But the problem with verbal is that no one can suddenly come and boost your percentile just like that. You will have to put in real hard work(wherever you go) to score a good percentile.

Hope this was helpful

Hi adri_fred,

Thanks a lot for your reply.Really helped to take a decision.
I am planning to join 4GMAT in the next weekday batch at the Mylapore centre
Also could please tell how many mock tests that 4GMAT provides in their course.

They provide only around 2-3 paper based mocks. The mocks are pretty useless there since they dont have any adaptive tests , anyway you can ask and see if they have changed the system now

I thought as part of their program,by default they would also be providing sufficient mock tests :-(
So are the people enrolling in their courses taking into consideration only their good coaching and later take mock adaptive tests on their own
However I ll check with them if they provide adaptive tests now in their program.
As I had not seen any posts in this forum on the coaching of Kaplan classes of Chopras,Chennai centre,Could you also please share your views on the Kaplan classes?

Yah most of the people pay for the coaching and manage the mocks on their own.I managed with Mgmat + the Original Gmat prep tests.

Again sorry mate no idea about Chopras but you can go there directly and try talking to a couple of students, that might help
