HI All, Good to see a forum for Chennai GMAT takers. I have planned for GMAT within Sep 2009, in fact i would want to book dates only when i am fully prepared for the test. Folks looking to share materials, questions, doubts are most welcome. : I aint against coaching centers but i prefer studying on my own. But, if you feel coaching centers would assist you better, go ahead. There are successful and unsuccessful stories too. Finally, depends on how you perform on D day. :-P
Hey dinesh PM me ur mail id or contact num. we shall share materials and strategies.
I just gave my GMAT and hence have a lot of material .
1. Original Guide -11th edition 2. Quantitative review - photocopy 3. Verbal review - photocopy 4. Kaplan Premier Program - 2009 edition with CD(unused) 5. A full set of the 4GMAT material.
3.5 months preparation..knew that I was not good with self-study...took classes from 4GMAT.. worked out atleast 2000 problems (my math is not great).. verbal was OK.. OG 11, Manhattan SC etc...
Got some 3 DS questions back to back..all tough ones (median, number theory ...)realized I was doing really well..finsihed both sections in the last few seconds....
Hi This is Rajesh. I am thinking about giving GMAT this year. I would like to get some info from u guys like- a. generally how many months of prep is needed for GMAT prep? b. What r the sections in gmat? c. is critical reasoning comparatively tougher? d. does verbal section lay more stress on vocab? d. how is mark for essay weighed along with the total gmat score?
I know that some of these questions are very subjective and varies from person to person. But i would like to get a rough idea. i have given CAT twice and got around 95 perc. i guess i should be able to manage quants if i practice well. not sure about CR and verbal.
Getting Q51 is both easy and difficult.. the more you practice the better it is...the most important thing is to not lose composure.. I am sure I got one answer wrong...realized after confirming the answer ...I didn't let that dampen my spirit...got 51...SO be cool
I can definitely say that the prep classes I took made a lot of difference... lots of short-cuts...a lot of formulae to remember.. but it pays....
again, I will strongly recommend you join to a prep course after YOU have done all research....not all prep courses fit everyone (a bit like the MBA).. so visit the place, understand whether the guys make sense and then enrol.
In my observation, 4GMAT is God send for people aiming for around 700+. People with lesser skills (those aiming for around 600-650) just get intimidated and usually leave after the first couple of classes.

I dont think pattern has changed any way check in mba.com, i have searched some stuff from various sources, let me know if few of us can check with each other and exchange some.
thanks. i too had checked MBA.COM and they dint mention any change. but they do so only in case of major pattern changes i guess , here the article said there were new additions replacing the existing questions and a juggle of ques between PS and DS.
Sure we can share sources.we can have access to a greater databasae .
