IBPS CWE PO/MT V (2015-16)

I'm seeing a lot of posts regarding toughness and quality of MOCKS..having taken 3 different mocks for SBI Pre I guess I'm qualified enough to answer this,

1.) OB

The mocks are way too tough especially the Quants one don't worry i used to score 2-3 in mocks with overall ranging from 50-55 and occasionally going 60 or sometimes even as low as 37 and 40..but in SBI pre i was able to get 14.75 in quants and overall 55+

2.) PracticeMock

The mocks are good and gives us the real feel of exam but even this is a little hard compared to the SBI exam.

Now coming to the Big Brother of banking prep..Mahendra's

3.) Mahendra's

I joined the classroom coaching so got the Mocks sensed they are way too easy so brought OB and PM..but the difficulty level of Mahendra's is actually equal to the exam we will be giving on D-Day..The Mains series of mahendra's may not match the IBPS PO CWE but, the Pre is good.

So, people thinking about not being able to clear the sectionals of English and Quants of Mocks especially OB, because their Quants is really very tough..don't worry you will Ace the PRE..don't loose hope..be +ve..and nail the exam..ATB..!!

Simplification Thought Process Which May Help You

A. On seeing %

1. Try to convert it in fraction if it converts into a simple one. You should have already memorized 16.25%, 33.33%, 14.28%...etc.

2. If it does not convert to simple fraction follow 10-1 rule and approximate a bit.

Eg.- lets take a simple one 37% of 128+ 13.8% of 140=?

My though process would be

1. 37%? O its too close to 37.5% which makes it 3/8 of 128 =>48. But  I have to reduce .5% which is 1/2 of 1%.

1% is 1.28. Its too small. Will take into account later if my final answer is too close with two options.

2. 13.8%? Does not seem a good one. Take 14 %. 10%  is 14

1% is 1.4 and hence 4% is 5.6

So total is 14+5=19 ( did not consider the .6 part to compensate the excess 14-13.8 part)

So final answer is 48+19=67

B. Addition and Subtraction

Instead of grouping in + and -, I just keep an eye on its sign and adjust accordingly.

Eg. 231+345-657-241+579=?

It goes like

9-1>8, 8-7>1, 1+5>6, 6+1>7. Put 7.

7-4>3, 3-5>-2, -2+4>2, 2+3>5. Put 5, makes 57

5-2>3, 3-6>-3, -3+3>0, 0+2>2 Put 2 makes 257

Alternatively if you are comfortable with left to right addition, you can also follow that.

mahendra st -117 marks?

If you can ensure the following things, you should get the best result.

Solving any question in LR and Quantitative has two parts-

1. Figuring out the logic.

2. Calculating the values.

Now for questions like simplification, syllogism, table puzzles, DI- the first part is almost known to you. So do not miss out on these questions.

Don't leave group questions for the last 5 mins.

Ensure that you have visited all the 100 questions. If not, chances are that you have missed out some extremely easy questions.

Start with your strongest topic.

When you start solving puzzles in LR, give yourself 7 mins. Don't panic. You can not rush here.

Reading the RC in 5 min can give you 5 marks. If you have good reading habit you can not go wrong here. So if you see a tough puzzle (to me its circular with inside outside facing) in LR, its better to use that time in RC. Also those 5 min reading would give you the context for choosing synonyms antonyms.

In English section, do not guess. If you do not hesitate in leaving, you can complete this section in 10 mins. It is the hesitation to mark or not to mark in the questions YOU FEEL you know slows you down.
