Here are some of the Quant Questions which was asked in today's IBPS PO Prelims Exam
Qs1. 24 men do a work in 16 days. 20 women do a work in 18 days. What is the ratio of one day work done by 32 men and 36 women?
Solution - LCM (24*16, 20*18) = 24*16*15
1 men does = [24*16*15]/[24*16] = 15 units daily.
1 women does = [24*16*15]/[20*18] = 16 units daily.
Ratio of work done by 32 men and 36 women = 32*15 : 36*16 = 5:6
Qs. 2 - Ram goes A to B at 4kmph and reach 20 minutes late and ay 6 kmph reach 30 minutes early. Find distance between A and B?
Solution - Let original time be T hours.
==> 4*[T + 1/3] = 6*[T - 1/2] ==> T = 13/6
Distance = 4*[13/6 + 1/3] = 10 km
One more method.
Speed ==> 6/4 ==> Time ==> 4/6 = 2/3. Let original time be T hours.
Decrements of -20-30 = 50 mins is there.
==> T - 2T/3 = T/3 = 50 mins ==> T = 150 mins
Distance = 4*150/60 = 10 km
Qs. 3 - Goods are purchased for Rs. 450 and one-third is sold at a loss of 10%. At what profit per cent should the remainder be sold so as to gain 20% on the whole transaction?
Solution - 450/3 = 150. Sold at 10% loss = 150*0.9 = 135 Rs
Final gains = 20% ==> 450*1.2 = 540 Rs
Remaining goods (300 Rs) to be sold at = 540-135 = 405 Rs
To be sold at [405-300]*100/300 = 35% profit.
