Remember:

You have often heard the word 'in principle approval' as in :

RBI granted 'in-principle' approval to the 10 applicants to set up Small Finance Banks

What does this mean?

In principle approval means the concerned authority(here RBI) has agreed to the proposal, generally without getting into  the details of other required statutory / legal compliances.

So, in this case the "in-principle" approval granted will be valid for 18 months to enable the applicants to comply with the requirements under the Guidelines and fulfill other conditions as may be stipulated by the RBI.

REMEMBER:

Nostro vs Vostro and EXIM procedure simplified:

We have often heard confusing NOSTRO/VOSTRO A/c often used in International trade settlements (payment b/w impoters and exporters). Let's understand this by an example.

Example for illustration purpose only:(real procedure would be more complex and would include Letter of Credit,BA,D/C,etc)

A an exporter from India enters into an agreement with B , an importer from Australia to export Cotton worth Rs.5crore. Now, A is to be paid Rs.5cr by B. Here, A the exporter has an A/c with ICICI Bank. B has an A/c with Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

The Commonwealth Bank has an A/c of ICICI Bank with them in Australia.

For ICICI bank it's a NOSTRO Account.

Note: Nostro - "Our A/c with you"

Similarly, ICICI Bank has an A/c of Commonwealth bank back here in India.

So for ICICI Bank, It's VOSTRO A/c.

Note- Vostro- "Your A/c with us"

THINK: For Commonwealth Bank what will be the NOSTRO and VOSTRO A/c ?

Now, Back to the point. B has to pay A for the cotton imported. B goes to Commonwealth Bank and directs the Bank to pay the sum of 5cr to A in India. Commonwealth Bank then debits A's A/c with the specified sum and credits the VOSTRO A/c of ICICI.(for CW Bank it's a VOSTRO A/c) .

Here ICICI Bank credits the amount to A's A/c.
Transaction is complete.

Think: What if A was the importer and B was the exporter?

I scored equal to the cutoff..0.25 marks b idhar udhar ho jaate to lAg jaani tHi..
