Vacancies: 1750
Interviewed: 5250 (1:3)
Qualified for Mains: 35000 (1:20)
Assuming that candidates who have written mains have scored anything between 0 and the highest score of 150+ and the scores of these candidates are in normal distribution, I have taken the mean score of 63 and a standard deviation of 20. With these settings, a score 82 will lie in the top 17% of the scores. Ideally it should be top 15% since 3 out of 20 candidates qualify, but I have taken a 2% leverage to accomodate those who have scored more than 82 but failed to qualify because of sectional cut-offs and qualified candidates from other categories.
With these assumptions,
82 -> Top 5250
90 -> Top 2900
100 -> Top 1050
110 -> Top 310
120 -> Top 80
So a score in the range of 82-90 will be secured by 2350 candidates, 90-100 will be secured by 1800 candidates and 1000-1100 candidates will have scored greater than 100.
Now scaled scores out of 100 comes out to be following:
82 -> 29.15
90 -> 32
100 -> 35.56
110 -> 39.11
120 -> 42.66
The minimum score that can be secured in an interview is 8/20 since 40% is the cut off for the interview.
Assuming out of the 1000-1100 candidates who have scored 100+, 85-90% succeed to get a min of 8/20, and the rest will be disqualified. So 850-900 candidates will be selected each with a score greater than 35.56 + 8 = 43.11. So ideally interview score of 11+/20 for candidates in the 100-105, 10+ for 105-110 and 9+ for 110+ can be considered safe.
Now we are left with the remaining 850-900 vacancies to fill. Here, it gets tricky. If the scoring in interviews is generally liberal, then someone with a score of 82 doesn't clear even with 19 in the interview (20 is improbable). If the scoring in strict and generally howers around 10-15 out of 20, then those in the range of 82-90 should get atleast 18+ to clear cut off.
So bottom line is, with an average interview some one with 100+, can feel safe that they will get selected. Average interview = 12/20!
Whereas those in the range of 90-100 should score 15+/20 and 82-90 should score 18+ to clear cut-off.

At 1:00 pm: I entered the hall and after filling a form and arranging documents in specified serial I was called for document verification. Document verification was smooth. 2 candidates who are already working in Allahabad bank are crying because their NOC from the bank is not as per IBPS criteria. HR was polite and asking them to call the officials of their bank. If they email the NOC we can let you go in the interview.
After document verification At 2:00 pm it was announced that It is lunchtime.
After lunch at 2:30 pm group of 5 students are called to the lobby of the second floor where I saw at least 20 candidates are already sitting on sofas and you were free to take water, tea and biscuits.
I was called at 3:00 pm.
I entered the room and greet them Good afternoon mam and Good afternoon sirs, there were 5-panel members. 3 were busy in some paperwork. M2 told me to have a seat. I replied thank you and take the seat. M1 looks like a south Indian guy and M2 is from UP and rest M3, M4, M5 are busy in some paperwork. M1 is just listening to my answers with full attention and M2 is asking questions.
M2: Kahan se ho? {From which city you belong?}
Me: from XX city sir.
M2: ye to pas mei hi hai, BBD se padhe ho? {It is near Lucknow, you studied from BBD?}
Me: Yes sir [now I am thinking the interviewer is asking every question in Hindi so I must reply in hindi]
M2: Ismei rural job lgegi to kaise kroge? {Posting can be in the rural area, How will you manage?}
Me: Sir kahin bhi posting ho mujhe koi problem nhi hai. chahe jahan ho. {It doesn't matter, I dont have problem}
M2: Maan lo rural mei job lgti hai to customers kaise bnaoge. {Assume You will get posting in rural are how will you add customer}
Me: Sir wahan mainly loan ka kaam hoga like KCC. [Sir, There will be mainly loan work like KCC]

M2: Pehle paisa jma hoga tbhi to loan doge [with smiling face], han btao customers kaise judenge.
Me: yes sir pehle account khulega....Sir mainly customers Empathy pr judte hain. pehle se jude customers ko agar hm acchi service denge to mouth publicity hogi. Jaise demonetization k wakt maine ek hindi newspaper mei news padhi thi ki ek bank manager logon ko smjhate the aur unhe chai ya biscuit offer krte the aur unke bank mei kbhi koi preshani nhi hui... customer satisfaction hoga to log judenge.
M2: work pressure kaafi rehta h [there will be too much work pressure]
Me: Sir, I know it is a very challenging job, Sir Deadline will motivate me not pressurize me.
M2: Budget ka kuch padha ho to btao? [If you studied something from the budget, Tell us? ]

Can anyone give me suggestions for descriptive writing? I got only 13 for descriptive... I don't know the reason... I don't think that I had too many grammar or spelling mistakes as I generally get good marks for english... Is it probably because I didn't stick to the word limit for the essay?? I wrote 177 words for the essay
