On the basis of purchase,statement 2 clearly says that more paintings are sold by rahul (more purchases).I think the answer would be :if statement 2 alone is  sufficient but statement 1 alone is not sufficient.Answer is 1 and 2 together are not sufficient.Put some light on this.

The questions given below contain two statements giving certain data. You have to decide whether the data given in the statements are sufficient for answering the question.

Solution :
By both the statement it is not clear that who is not good artist because both statements are positive for their artistic skills.
