Dear RRB Aspirants,
Mains exam will be of 200 marks and there is only one shift. So, no NORMALISATION case. Candidates will be shortlisted directly on the basis of overall score (provided they clear cutoff of each section). There is a myth in RRB that Hindi is easier than English but this is true only for Hindi Medium students as most of the questions asked in Hindi are from literature section and typical grammar which most of you will find difficult in exam. It is uncertain to score 30+ out of 40 in hindi for many candidates with english medium background. Also, cutoff for hindi (22-25) is much higher than that of english (04-06). Many of you will attempt 30-35 in hindi to get you in safe zone but silly mistakes and typical unknown rules of hindi grammar will take you below 20 and all you efforts will be wasted.
I will suggest all of you to do self introspection for sure before making final decision. If you have good command over hindi, go for it and make sure of 25+ score and if you are not uncertain about the same, go with english. You can easily attempt 20-25 in RRB Level english if your english score of SBI PO PRELIMS was greater than 12.5/30. There will be no cutoff risk as well. If you score 20/40 in english, you will be at top 5 percentile in english candidates as cutoff is too less but same score in hindi will let you kick from the merit list.
Make a wise decision as you know yourself better than anyone. Don't follow the crowd. Do practice previous years paper while making decision. Best wishes!
