IIFM (Indian Institute of Forest Management ) Bhopal : Queries Help desk

I would request all the people who have applied to IIFM to post their scores with sectional spilts so that we can asses as to where do we stand in relation to each other. Further how to prepare for GD/PI.I have already posted my unipressive profile. It would be nice if we could interact a bit.

Regards,
Bikram

QA:89 per

@Reeti get in touch with the students studying in IIFM and they may shed light on your chances. I think your over all percentile is decent but the sectional splits are an area of concern.Anyways best of luck

hey

here goes...

eng - 24 - 92%ile
maths -16 -80%ile
DI- 32 -80%ile
OA - 90%ile

The GD/PI calls will be out mid feb and the fun would begin mid march;-). They also give due weightage to ppl with work ex. as for freshers i believe the cut offs would hover around 82%ile.

looking forward for IIFM. was always a nature freek.

Iifmians kindly share abt the life in IIFM quite eager to know!:smilecol:

also would be very useful to keep the thread alive.

wht are my chances in IIFM

i read somewher that they have sectional cut off of 55%ile not sure though.
It also depends on your work ex..

I had 2+ year in IT Sector, can I get a call from IIFM with 76.02 percentile?
When will be the results declared?

The results would be out in Mid of Feb.

If you could just browse through last yr's thread there were folks with 73%ile and work ex getting calls. not sure in what field his exp was. but still that is a 7%ile difference from the cutoff for a fresher!:p
Well, well, well Good to see some nature-lovers around. Have answered some of the doubts earlier, but heres it again, for the benefit of all

Yes, the sectional cut-offs are generally around 55%ile. And till now, they have been the sole criterion for getting a call. Factors like workex, academics, extracurrics, etc. play their part only in the final evaluation. Of course, things can change, though I dont think thats very probable this year

For the GD, u dont need to prepare nething specially related to IIFM-related issues. The topics are general (My group, for one, was given the topic Democracy is hampering Indias progress). Of course, in the PI, if u can differentiate urself from the rest by incorporating the environmental and social angles without sounding as if you have learnt-by-heart everything, you shud easily sail through. The calls will be out by Jan-end, and the process will start by mid-Feb.

Life here is pretty chilled out. The campus is beautiful its on a hilltop surrounded on two sides by a lake, we have our own sunset point and rock paintings of prehistoric age, and really good infrastructure an excellent library, a 24-hour computer centre in addition to LAN connection in the hostel rooms and Wi-Fi in the classrooms. Of course, many of the classes are boring, but the same professors who sound boring in the class prove to be of immense help in gaining practical viewpoints to academics. I tell u, if u have an explorative nature if you like to research things out rather than being spoonfed, IIFM is just rite for you

And about the jobs well, they are clearly demarcated into three areas: Forestry, environment and development. Forestry is increasingly losing its shine in IIFM in favour of Environment and Development. Microfinance is a key area of jobs u could get into ne mainstream MFI like ICICI, ABN Amro, HDFC, etc. Carbon is big business nowadays, and environmental finance is another key recruiting area through organizations like Carbon CO2e, NCDEX and others. This year, Indian Oil has recruited two students from our senior batch for their biofuels division. And of course, you can also get into the original IIFM job avenues like NGOs, governmental agencies and other development concerns like TERI, IMRB, NIF, and other grassroots organizations. The pay will be in tandem with the career u choose. Forestry is the least payer (barring Olam) and Development is the biggest.

If you have read everything till here YOURE GR8!!!

Sorry, wrong post.

Can we have some genuine participation out here. I fail to understand why this forum is so dormant. Buck Up! Guys! Let us have some interaction, queries, aspirations, ambition, love for nature, anxiety to get into IIFM, strategies and ofcourse some fervent prayers.

nice thought.... i m in... IIFM's guy please suggest some good topics for GD preparation......

"carbon trading" will be best topic to start with....

guys please share wat will be the job profile after MBA.....

I guess no one's read my long-drawn reply, huh? Neways, here's a short one: For the GD, u don't need to prepare ne special topics... just the ones u do for ne other institute. Knowledge of carbon trading is a 'plus', not a necessity... If at all, it will be helpful in the interview. That too, not very sure.

Hey its not so.. many people might have read it, but just all are too lazy to write it down. It was indeed a gud info. Thanks a lot. Hope to make it till the end. :-)

VA score will, in all probability, pose a problem. Keep ur fingers crossed. The admission cell generally calls ne1 with 55 in each section without seeing the workex or such other details...
