Iift gd-pi 2016-18

Hi guys need help...some of the certificates of extracurricular activities of the ones I have claimed in IIFT form are misplaced. Will they ask for them?

Hi @@akshaygupta19 , when will the final results come out bcz colleges like nmims ask to deposit the 1st installment of fee by 8th March. Please provide your inputs on the date and how to get out of this conundrum.

Just to confirm, we go for PI empty handed and need not carry any Resume folder containing certificates inside Interview room...as they will be already verified in the beginning..

hi pls confirm

x,x11,grad degree and marksheets ,call letter, extra curricular certis.,voter id/pan card ,apart from these any other doc required?

thanks

For people who have passed college are individual mark sheets for each semester required or a final degree would do ??

Please confirm

IIFT essay topic: Indian banking system should be more inclusive. Discuss IIFT GD: Govt interference in Indian Education system is desirable?

ATB 😃

How does the WL movement work? Can the IIFT media committee clear the confusion? Which one is it or did I get it completely wrong?

1. IIFT results announced. IIFT-D and K shortlists out (rank wise) + WL. Asked to pay fees. Those who don't, are taken out of the list. List movements thereafter.

2.IIFT results announced. IIFT-D and K shortlists out (rank wise) + WL. Asked to pay fees. Fees paid. (Some) Candidates cancel according to preference.

3. K to D movement. WL to K to D movement?

If suppose a candidate gets K (in the 1st list), but prefers D, will they move from K to D in eventual lists even if they don't pay up?  Or movement is ensured only if they pay fees? The idea is to know if they will not 'book' you against a vacated K seat when you pay; but give you a shot at D if seats open up.

Please excuse my confusion in the language as well!

How much does the waiting list moves??what was the last waiting number which converted last year??

That awkward moment when u shake hands with the panelists after a chilled out interview and one of them says "Interview mein haath nahi milana chahiye. Agli bar se mat milana" and u wonder what that means.

today was my iift gdwatpi

Wat went very nice. was able to write all the points and also gave a bit of data.

GD went very bad. (bottom 2/3)

PI was very "chill". 10-15 minutes. mainly focused on roles of wto and imf. Even a discussion on RBI came in between. I was able to answer all the questions.

%ile of 99.4x

will the bad gd affect much?

Do i need to carry self-attested photocopies of the documents mentioned in the call letter, or would the originals suffice?

wat/gd/pi on 11th feb

percentile :99.23

WAT topic: Ensuring gender diversity in the indian workforce

wrote a decent essay

GD topic : Professional leagues are doing more harm to indian sports than gains

everybody got a minute to speak in the beginning with everybody mainly speaking against the topic

chipped in the main points in the beginning though didnt speak much in the discussion

lots of points were repeated perhaps that was the reason the moderators ended it abruptly

PI : three panelists, two female and one male.

first question about my name. i said it means to discuss or suggest something

so they said do u like to suggest or discuss

i said i discuss generally

so they said random discussions or productive ones

i said productive ones

they asked me to cite an example

i said after having discussed with my friends and family i came to the conclusion i had to do mba as it interested me and so on.

then the aged male asked me that since my surname was pandita i was from kashmir

i said yes

so he asked me tell him what was going on there

i told him about pdp, mehbooba and stuff

then the female panelist asked me the difference btw values and principles

and other stuff from my cv

they also asked to tell me recent news on the world economy

i mentioned the tpp

i dont know why but i didnt mention the oil prices thing

finally they said the interview was over

what are my chances of conversion and the weightages of gd wat and pi this year

and all the best everyone.. 😃

Hello all!

So the long-awaited second round's over (well, at least for IIFT).

As for what you do now, is relax and focus on other shortlists that you may have. The tentative dates for results is the third week of March as per last year's trends. Again, remember, TENTATIVE.

Meanwhile, you can read more about IIFT, its legacy and follow all its major campus events to know more about them.

As always, you can forward us any queries that you might have . We will be glad to help you out.
All the very best!
Hope to see you at IIFT.

Warm Regards

Essay topic: Concept of smart city

Wrote about why do we need smart city, what will be the facilities provided in a smart city, what govt. has to do to build them, what improvements can be made and then concluded. Although gave some wrong facts (gave 23 instead of 20 as the smart cities shortlisted in first round).Still, overall a decent performance

GD topic: Can the world economy bank upon India for growth?

Since it was a GD for an institute dealing with foreign trade, I thought of sticking to the foreign trade part of topic and speaking in context with international business as most of the contestants would focus on Indian part. Started with US and USSR and how US dominated afterward and then China. Gave points for need to increase India's share in world trade Once the floor was open, gave points on why India should agree on WTO's Doha round policy of cutting red tape and giving up subsidy, India's shielding against global recession and making dependency for itself in world trade and need for a robust foreign policy since India was a multi-aligned nation. Pitched in about 4-5 times in the GD. As per the team dynamics, it was not good since the GD was going in a haphazard manner. One person was constantly speaking between others even when he didn't have much to speak. In the end panel stopped abruptly after 20 min and also didn't ask to conclude. Overall an okayish performance group wise and decent performance individual wise

Interview: I was the second last one to go in.

3 panelists M1,M2 and M3

M2: So Sarang, we should have called you at the end. Tell us why?

Me: (Trying to act smart :P) Sir, I think that's because you liked my profile.

M2: No, because you are from Mumbai and others have to travel far.

Me(thinking in mind): Aur bano hero 😛

M2 : Ok tell us something about yourself

Answered.

M2(Cutting in between): Ok you have IT experience, what did you do there?

Answered. They seemed satisfied.

After that 5 sec pause. I took the opportunity and asked them if I can continue with my introduction

M1: Yeah sure

Told them about my hobbies.

Cross question from M1 on one hobby. Answered

M2 : So you want to go to banking(mentioned that in my career goal)

Me: took the queue to answer why banking and told him my interest in banking

M2: Is IIFT a banking institute?

Me: Told him that IIFT was a management institute that also provides education in International business, and I will get many opportunities in banking once I pursue MBA from IIFT

M2: Why are you interested in Banking?

Answered

M2: What kind of job you are expecting after IIFT?

Me: Told him a job in the international business vertical of an MNC bank or foreign trade organisation.

M2: Ok you are an ECE engineer. what was your favourite subject?

Me(in mind : shit! I am screwed. But again tried to act smart and evade the question)Told him I liked Applied mathematics(so that he would not ask lot of q.)

M2: That;s ok but it would have been there in the first two years only. I m asking a core subject.

Me(remembering the list of subjects that were taught): Sir, I liked digital electronics. Don't know why I told him that but that was the only engineering subject that came to my mind at that time 😛

M3(jumping in for the first time): Ok so what is doping?(a term in ECE)

Me: gave a scrambled answer and then went silent when asked a cross question.

M2 to M1: Leave that. Don't ask technical from him.

Me(in mind): I love you Sir! 😛

M2: Ok tell me three reasons why I should select you

Told him about my interest in banking sector and how IIFT would help me get into banking sector, also about the skills I have acquired after working in IT sector and the dynamics that I have learned in IT

M2: Ok, I will start from reverse. Elaborate the dynamics you have learned in IT.

Me: Told him about teamwork and leadership skills.

M2: ok, and the skills you have acquired in IT?

Me: Told him about good communication skills, reliability and being an organised person

M2: Ok and then first reason.

Me: Told him why I was interested in banking and specially IB and how it would help me in my career

M2: You missed your one strength, consistency. You are very consistent. That's good

Me: Thanked him but still thinking how he came to that conclusion. Maybe because all my answers matched with the ones in CV.

M2: Ok I think we are all done. Do you want us to ask anything else from you, apart from the reason behind your smile(Since I was smiling throughout the interview)? 😛 Me(smiling even broadly): No sir, I think everything has been covered.

M1(jumping in between): Can you tell us something about your extra-curricular activities.(He asked that because I did not mention any in the form)

Me: Told him that i took up some activities but that was long tym back. M1: Still I want to know them, want to know if you do something else as well or not Me: Told him about robotics event, cultural event and sports event that I took part in. Also told him I participated but could not succeed

M1: That's ok. Just wanted to check if that is missing or not.

M2: Ok then, u may leave, and pls send the last person in.

Interview length: 15 min.

Overall a chilled out experience, they were not putting you under pressure and were happy if you answered precisely and quickly.

All the best everyone. 😃

Verdict: Converted IIFT-Delhi

@akshaygupta19

In a GD if some people pitch in fair points while some are busy shouting and the panel (after 25-30 minutes) rings the bell and ends the GD without asking anyone to conclude, is it bad on the overall group? I mean, do those people who have contributed fair points get penalized too?

Thank you.

Panel scrwed me ....worst interview of the season 😞

IIFT PI Experience Morning Slot: 11th Feb

Panel 2 Females

P1: Tell Me Something about yourself not in the form

Me: told about my interesting hobbies as astronomy etc. And my strength of empathy.

Me: told about international perspective

P1: be specific

Me: About subjects as international marketing, you have international port visits. There is a centre of msme in the campus. There is game by rbi where we have to act as governor of rbi and frame the monetary policy. Faculty so experienced that are involved in policy making.

P1: what's the batch size

Me: It's 360 but hopefully will increase this year(mistake 😔)

P2: So you are not confident that you will get through?

Me : I am confident just more people ,more learning possible. Told them about how MBA is more of a process than degree

P1: so if we give u the process and not the degree will it work for u?

Me: did not know how to answer this so just smiled.

P1: We want you to be genuine and specific. We don't want to hear big nice things.

P2: tell me about your work

P1: so you have overcome this, some current weakness

Me: told another with mechanism

P1: so you are perfect no weakness

Me: I said these two are not over still overcoming them.

Me: told

P2: what costs are involved

Me: told in detail

P2: how much prices will u keep in your restaurant.

Me: I said I will keep competitive prices.

P1: but why should I come to you. If I am getting a dish for 1000, you are giving me for 900 why should I come to your restaurant.

Me: I said the most imp thing in restaurant is food. If the food is good customer will pay even 1100. I talked about how chefs are being hired from all over the world to bring their authentic cuisine. I said 2nd imp thing is ambience and presentation. These two are the aspects that will have my full attention.

P1: seemed satisfied. Said good and thank you

Me: I wished and said have a good day.

If academic scores are so important for IIFT they should include it in the shortlisting criteria rather than taking interviews just for formality's sake. It would save a lot of our time and IIFT's too.. They had already made up their mind even before I entered and were just not interested. One guy actually walked out during my interview. I definitely don't want to join a place where they don't even have such basic decency.

Q1  define GDP ...answered

Q2 asked some German ....fumbled

Q3 some Sanskrit ....answered

Q4 work of CFO. ..didn't seem satisfied

Q5 about 1st job
