Now it is not possible for me to send the completed CV form at such short notice.Kindly let me know what can be done in this regard.

Q.6 Specify one thing about yourself that you are proud of
There are broadly two ways to answer this question.
1. Start with a trait that you exhibit and then find examples to substantiate
Sample: I consider problem solving and planning as my strengths ... I particularly take pride in the fact that I was able to resolve a major . Our planning and solution ... The outcome was appreciated ... remains one of the proud moments of my life.
2. Start with an example and bring out you traits
Sample: Last year, I was involved in a project that resulted in 10% revenue growth for the organization ... I was the youngest member of the team ... tested our process orientation and team work ... My task execution was appreciated by the head of the project ... something that I am proud of.
This answer will be closely related to your achievements. It can be from work or academic life or your personal and social life where you were able to utilize a behavioral trait for the benefit of others. The act is important because it will not leave the trait hanging. Humble examples and self-appreciation is fine. Nothing wrong with it. Stand your ground where you must but don't cross the thin line between pride and arrogance. Avoid self-flattery which is generally perceived in a negative manner by the interviewers.
The best way to formulate this answer is to ask your parents and friends the following question
Objectively, what have I done in my life that you are proud of?
The first three four things that come to their mind are what you should be proud of. Because, there will be things that you (since you are evaluating yourself) are proud of but are probably unimportant to others. We judge others by their actions and judge ourselves by our intentions. You will realize this difference only when you ask others about proud moments of your life.
What are you most often criticized for?
If you go through Leadership literature, you will find that good leaders always reveal what they are not good at or what they are criticized for. It shows that you are approachable and ready to learn from others. It also shows that you have introspected and studied your behavior enough to understand your shortcomings. Hang on. You must share it in a selective manner. It should be honest and genuine so that people believe it at the same time should not reveal your hamartia; a fatal flaw leading to your downfall.
When leaders reveal their weaknesses, they show us who they are-warts and all. This may mean admitting that they're irritable on Monday mornings, that they are somewhat disorganized, or even rather shy. Such admissions work because people need to see leaders own up to some flaw before they participate willingly in an endeavor. Exposing a weakness establishes trust and thus helps get folks on board. Indeed, if executives try to communicate that they're perfect at everything, there will be no need for anyone to help them with anything. They won't need followers. They'll signal that they can do it all themselves. [Source: Why Should Anyone Be Led by You? by Robert Goffee and Gareth Jones]
This question is not entirely about weaknesses. A repeatedly exhibited behavior or a habit which isn't favorable is something what we criticize. It may or may not be a weakness. Instead of looking at it from 'weakness' lens, look at it from a developmental view. Ask the following question to your friends and family members.
If I can modify my behavior, what would you like me to work on?
You will have enough responses to figure out what you do (inadvertently) that irks people around you. Once you have figured out those two-three things, the next step is to shortlist and formulate your answer.
Sample: While working at ABC, I was often criticized for not letting my subordinates work on important matters. As I was responsible for their actions, I would perform some of the tasks which they were supposed to perform. As a result of this, most of my subordinates took more time to be productive. After I realized the consequences of my behavior, I started delegating work with minimum supervision. It helped my juniors learn and gain confidence, and we were able to achieve more as a team.
Don't write something without giving it a thought. Shortlist judiciously. I often get criticized for asking people to refrain from using SMS language in daily communication. But that is not what I would write as my answer.
Stay honest. There is absolutely no point making something up. Don't skip the question. Getting criticized for something is better than nobody giving you any feedback about your behavior. All the best!
Nearest metro station from IIFT, Delhi?
And how to reach the campus from the station?
if posts get late by 1 or 2 days, will they consider our form?
As we are almost near the end of the IIFT GD PI form, I thought of consolidating the last three questions in a single post.
According to you, have the values of your generation changed when compared to those of your parents' generation? Is this change good or bad?
Values are guiding principles that stand the test of time and help you navigate. Why would someone want to know your opinion on values? Value system is a big part of self-awareness. Values and beliefs make you who you are and that awareness is extremely important. You must have experienced value differences when you are in different parts of the world and interact with people from different backgrounds.
This question has been asked to understand some of the values that the current generation believes in and whether there is some intersection with the values of the earlier generations. As we are on the topic, it makes sense to understand the generation classification as well which is done on the basis of the birth year of an individual. [There are differences over the exact birth year ranges]
Have a look here: http://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2014/03/here-is-when-each-generation-begins-and-ends-according-to-facts/359589/
Most of you will be millennials and will have parents who belong to either 'Baby boomer' generation or 'Generation X' and that is a huge difference. You won't be able to formulate this answer without knowing the values of your parents. Time to sit with them and ask them questions about their childhood and early twenties and thirties. Asking them about their current values won't work.
Technology and innovation have been the biggest value influencers. Both have resulted in tremendous improvements in quality of life, the way people communicate and interact, and have made life easier. That doesn't mean that these changes have completely changed our values. Most of the 'positive' values haven't really changed. For example: concern for others and sense of fairness. There are values that are more prevalent now as compared to our parents' generation. For example:encouraging new ideas and independence (thoughts and action)
Avoid taking a stand on the second part of the question. There is nothing 'absolute' about 'good' or 'bad' and there is inherent subjectivity in both. It will be a good exercise to figure out values that you consider core and values that can be modified as per situation demands. Don't be rigid and justify your values unnecessarily.
Do you consider ethics to be a limiting factor in doing business?
This is an extension of the value system question. Almost everyone will say that being ethical is important for long term sustainability of the businesses. One or two lines about your views on ethics should be there as introduction. Anything more will take the panel's interest away (imagine reading 1500 similar views)
To be a little different from the rest, dig through business data and find really solid examples where not being ethical has decimated organizations or individuals. I will probably put Martin Shkreli and Martin Winterkorn as my top contenders.
You can also look at examples where being ethical has helped people and society at large. As the question is specifically about business, if possible, do not offer generic non-business examples which are easy to find. You can also give relevant personal examples. Most of the times, organizations face situations where using unethical means make a lot of sense considering immediate financial returns. If you have witnessed something like this, you can expand on it (without revealing names, please) and then link it to your view on ethics.
Pretty straightforward and easy question to answer.
Any other information that you have not pointed out before and that you consider may be relevant for the Interview Board.
This is your chance to highlight some of your achievements that you haven't covered in various sections of the form. Avoid repetition and humblebragging. Use this section only if you want to write something relevant. It can be a personal quality or an interest or any experience or a combination of these. Make sure that it adds some value to your form and improves your candidature.
P.S. I hope these articles have offered you different perspectives and have helped you in improving your answers. All the best!
