All Bangalore invites so far are for Saturday?

So had my interview at Hyderabad yesterday. Panel comprised of 3 alums.

It was super chill. No grilling or cross-questioning by the panel. The interview was mainly in and around the work-profile.  Questions were on these lines- what does a day in your life at work look like, What brings you to ISB, How does your current work fit in your goals. What are the kind of roles you're looking for after ISB etc and lastly do you have any questions for us.

The interview lasted for 20 minutes. Heck, some guys even got out in 10 minutes !

Overall it was a very pleasant experience. Just be very clear on your industry, day-to-day work, your projects at work and have a clear connection between your present profile with your future aspirations.

All the best to the guys who have their interviews scheduled in the coming days ! :)

Game over for Hyderabad ? What's the scene with EEO applicants as well?

Any Hyderabad candidates received an invite for the coming weekend?

Anyone with start up experience interviewed? What was the focus of questions? Start up / Profile / Goals? Were there any case studies around strategy or product market fit?

Insights from the Interview experience of some of CrackAdmission’s clients who had their interviews the last weekend (18th and 19th) in Mumbai :

a. Market sizing / Guesstimate questions were asked.

b. Motivation to do an MBA from ISB was gauged through multiple questions.

c. Art of logically defending your stance was tested.

d. For those who had mentioned skills such as drawing / paining / dancing / singing – some were asked to perform in front of the panel.

e. Contingency plan / hedging strategy was asked from people who had mentioned slightly unconventional goals post MBA.

f. Justification of the decision to do an MBA from ISB in terms of ROI of investment was asked.

g. Honesty in verbal responses as well synch with what was mentioned in application form was tested.

h. Domain knowledge and subject matter expertise in current as well as future (goal) career path was tested through multiple questions.

i. Reason for switching jobs frequently was asked.

j. For those who had low score in one or more sections of GMAT (be it IR or Analytical Writing), explanation for the same was asked for.

k. For those who had worked mostly in an individual capacity, team based situations were given and response was gauged.

l. For those who had cofounded startups, quit them in less than 1000 days – reasons for shutting shop and learning from the experience was asked.

Overall, it was evident that the panel was looking for depth in knowledge and understanding and expecting a logical reasoning for every statement that was made.

I had my interview on 18th in Hyderabad. It was a pretty conversational interview and lasted for about 20-22 minutes. The panel had 2 members (both were alums).

Initially they asked for an introduction, as to what I have been doing post my graduation.

I was neither asked Why MBA nor Why ISB.

However since I work in a oil PSU I was asked Why I wish to leave a well cushioned job, a good salary, a good employer and test the waters of private sector.

I was asked about why the benefits don't reach the common people despite crude oil hitting such low prices.

I was asked about some aspects of my work which I mentioned in my essay.

I was asked the kind of roles I am looking forward to post my ISB MBA  and if those roles wont happen what will be my strategy then.

I was asked if you can take a sabbatical or not and if you can then what will you choose post ISB if the roles you get are similar to your parent organization.

Then the last question whether if I had any questions for them (asked one and there was a 3-4 minute discussion on that).

If your essays are well crafted, the goals ,the Why MBA part etc. you will not be grilled upon. If your answers are clear then you will not be crossed much.

You should be very solid with the work you do and the projects you have done.

Just be humble, polite and have clarity of thought that yes I am in a good phase in life to come to this great school and get to better places once I have completed the course.

All the best to all those who have their interviews for the coming weekend.

Anxious last 15 days before 5th of december.

Cheers!
