Thank you baccardisprite for telling me the true scenario, now talking about Ibm Daksh Its a Bpo Job for 1yr.,
I did applied for other Jobs In consulting, Marketing through internet But all of them require work experience.
Protiviti consulting came in our college and I cleared the 3 rounds of the selection process, ans it has been two months and they are still not replying further, our placement coordinater is not at all worried about it, I mailed them they are not replying back.
Now I am Confuse Should I join Amity Or IBM Daksh, Perasonally Tell me what do you think about amity.
And talking about lancaster , Its a good College I will get Global Exposure . A stamp on my cv Of good University Good Education
After that I was Thing Of Working In Country Where I get More Job Oppurtunities Like USA
Please clear My confusion
Please work Daksh for 2-3 years first and think about further education, when you have at least outlined some career plans for yourself, and have developed some skills. Right now, going abroad to Lancaster is adding nothing to your bag of skills. As for Amity, I can't comment except that the opportunities that the school is likely to provide or facilitate (for a person of your age 23-24) aren't likely to be superior to the IBM Daksh job.
saurabh: buddy there is nothing leaving amity here. You can join it anytime. And believe if you believe in the word "career" then dont go for Amity. From IBM daksh u can chart out a career path and probably u will be more clear about your career goal.
But Ibm Daksh is offering me a call center profile , Is it worth That leaving amity and still joining Ibm daksh
Don't take call center job. Once you start there, you are stuck there. See if you can get TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Mahindra-Satyam IT roles. They are hiring heavily this year. TCS alone is planning to add 50,000 positions. IBM is also planning to add 30,000 IT positions. This is much better career path than call center profile. Otherwise, join Amity, take any job say with Rs. 6 lakhs salary, then after 5-6 years experience, try for MBA from INSEAD, LBS, IMD, Top 20 USA Business school. The IIMs are much more competitive than the USA business schools.
Profile: Btech Mechanical 3 yrs work-ex in HPCL in Operations
One is Cass Bussiness School, London offering MSc in supply chain, trade and finance and other u told me earlier about DMP program (NUS and GATECH). I just wish to know which program is better with respect to career in supply chain and please if u can enlighten me about job opportunities for both.
Thanks
I want to add other school in this list. i.e. Cranfield: MSc in Logistics and supply chain management. Please guide me which program to go for as I have to prepare separately. Is it advisable to go for Msc exp after 4 yrs work-ex?
I needed a fresh perspective on my career planning. Hence, I am requesting your feedback since I noticed that you have an MBA with European experience and you have been very helpful with your suggestions / ideas.
I have about 17 years exp in an IT major with extensive global exp but currently in India. Recently, I got interested in joining an Executive MBA program, appeared for GMAT and got a decent 740. I applied to only IIMA last year (though I now feel it was wrong), was wait-listed but got dinged. Looking for other options now. I am considering INSEAD; however the course fees are prohibitive for the INSEAD GEMBA (EUR 90K). Considering that I am looking for a function/industry change, am open for a geography change and that I have some funds but would still need to take on huge loans to fund a like program due to prior financial commitments, would you advise to keep looking at the INSEAD option? What are the chances of getting enough ROI to repay the loan in 2-3 years? Given the quantum of the loan required, I might not have an option on the geo change.
Hi Baccardisprite, I must say that you are doing a phenomenal job ! Congratulations for that.
I am a B.E. passout of 2009. Been working in a top notch consulting firm since then in the Technology area. I am however not interested in working in the technology side and have asked for a shift to marketing(which is what I have a strong interest in)within the same firm. This would most probably materialize by June this year.
I wanted to go for a post graduation that helps me understand marketing and also other basic business subjects preferably by next year.Had appeared for Indian MBA exams but couldn't get through.Considering that by next year I will have only 1 year experience in Marketing would a MS in Management with a focus on Marketing(choice of electives) be the right choice for me? If yes which universities should I be targeting? Also what other skills should I pick up to strengthen my candidature for such courses( foreign language etc.) ? Thanks !
i am getting another option of doing 1 year masters in international buisness from Hult international business achool , san francisco usa, please enlighten me regarding this..!
After my 12th standard I did nothing for two years, I was depressed because my mother was ill and also because I was thinking about a career in Medicine. Later, I joined the University of Mumbai for a Degree in Management but unfortunately got a KT in my final semester, the only one in three years. which I cleared in my third attempt. My score is like this, 80% in 10TH, 70% in 12th, and 61 % in BMS. Immediately, after I gave my final exams, I started working in a finance KPO, but didn't want to do the graveyard shift hence quit after 5 months when I developed health problems. (Was hospitalised for 10 days). After that I studied for a Govt. exam, which I couldn't clear because I wasn't motivated enough. (Spent 6 months there). Later, I did a project with a FMCG firm for 3 months, (I call it a project because I did branding, designed a brochure, wrote content for a website, designed flyers and did online marketing for him, but only for three months) but had to leave because the owner of the firm told me he didn't have a full time position. I am currently working in HR in Business Development and have been at my current job for the past 10 months, Its an entrepreneurial firm, a small but efficiently run business. I have completed a certificate course in an European language and a course in computers sponsored by the Maharashtra govt (MSCIT). I gave MHCET 2011 and scored 98.5 percentile, but I'm am confident that I can do much better next year with God's grace and hard work. Career wise, I don't want to continue in Sales but intend to specialise in marketing when I get into a MBA. Now that my mind is finally free of cob webs and am staring reality in the face, I am angry with myself for letting go in my youth and have lots of regrets. I can't speak to anyone about my past because I'm afraid of the repercussions. I realise, a lot of damage has been done already and want to salvage my future and get back on track with a high paying job. Pls advice me on what I should tell interview panels/inquisitive people, curious about my past. How should I tackle the dark spots on my CV? What should be my next course of action ? Any courses that I should pursue?? I have big dreams, HBS, LSE...
In all this, I hope your Mother has recovered and is well now.
Aside from that, you're only 25 and have realized some things are wrong with your life / career - which is a good thing. Secondly - a small part of the overall solution is the job you have, language course you have taken. Stick with it! and don't give it up..... Life is a bit of routine and boredom, one's mental strength & discipline is to go through those moments and come out.
I would give the CAT/MHCET/XAT again in 2011-2012 and taking a seriously good crack at the top schools - IIMs, JB, XL, FMS, MDI, IMT, SP, etc... and aim for a good marketing role in a product / services forcused company! Prepare well for them, take help through classes if you need to, but make a full on attempt.
In the meantime, don't forget to take the key learnings from your current job. Many youngsters want to be entrepreneurs, but don't have the good fortune in an entrepreneurial environment before they start out on their own. The lack of experience and the broad operational & organizational skills is the root cause of the failure of many. Use the opportunity you (however limited the earning power for now) and make something of it. Entrepreneurial experience is actually very applicable and transferable to the marketing / sales function going forward.

Hult's MBA seems to be gaining in reputation the last few years. For specific information, there're a couple of Hult specific threads, please run a simple search and find them. Some current students, and successful admits are running the thread.

I need some suggestions regarding the following issue. I have recently been offered a faculty post in a coaching institute. I am currently working in an IT firm. The offer I have received will more than double my current pay. But I am concerned about the effect it will have on my profile and how the IIMs and other MBA colleges(abroad) will see this. Will they see me as someone with a different work experience? Moreover, I have not come across anyone who has done an MBA after accepting a pure teaching role in a coaching institute.
Really need help ASAP. And thanks a lot for the advice in advance.
Does any one have any idea about the University College Dublin(Ireland)- Masters Programs, They have a quite a few Msc programs in technology and Management. How is Ireland as a study destination for Internatinals? How is a Msc is management consultancy relevant than an MBA in getting a Business role in an Org?Will it help in getting a job in consulting anywhere? Any idea on job prospects/visa situation of Ireland?
I am having a work ex of 4.10 years in IT, am keen on doing an MBA but was considering other options mainly due to huge expenses that is required for MBA in any top/good school.

Sorry for the delay.
At your age and your level of experience, you'll be hard pressed to change your function and industry. It's more realistic to try for senior management or corporate roles in the IT space or a specialist but senior management role in IT in a major corporation. Achieving both is a stretch! Hopefully you will articulate your goals within this realistic context.
With 17 years of experience, you need to also look at what the EMBA brings you versus the Full-time MBA! Take a piece of paper and score each format with a set of decision criteria. Only some of these are:
- Financial (Costs of attendance, financial aid); level of possible employer sponsorship in the case of EMBA (money, time away from work) - Personal circumstances (e.g uprooting family / kid for a year if full-time). It could get into areas like can your spouse work, would she/he be able to in your environment? This is for his/her sake and for your family's finances. - Career standpoint... what are you likely to gain over a job that's reasonably senior already? - and so on and so forth....
If you find a full-time to be more advantageous - look at options where you would find classmates more in sync with yourself, and not with uber competitive 25-28 year olds whose priorities lie elsewhere. At the same time, target schools that are known to have career services offices that not just bring companies to campus, but train, educate, mentor and prepare you for an effective individualized self-driven job search.
If you decide on an EMBA, look at possibilities that are more geographically feasible. ISB's PGPMAX could be an option, IMPM Program (IIMB is a partner school) could be a good one. Outside of India - most EMBAs will hit $100K, which is on average more than their full-time equivalents, but they offer an entirely different experience. INSEAD is a good EMBA and I don't see any reason why you can't attend it. But it ain't going to get cheaper in any other equivalently top global school.
Are you likely to be based in India for the forseeable future? Are you likely to move to a geography like the US, UK / EU, Far East in the next 2-3 years? If the answer is yes, clearly an EMBA in any of these geographies becomes logistically and financially feasible.
If you want to go full-time, have you thought of MIT's Sloan Program (1 year MBA or MS), or MIT's SDM program (more technical but also 1 year), or Stanford's 1 year Sloan M.Sc or London's Sloan M.Sc? The class attending these programs is very much your profile. Note though that these programs are just as expensive as EMBAs, though you might have more direct access to career support.

As long as you are able to articulate clearly why you made the choice and what it does for your professionally / personally & notionally - you'll be fine. Hopefully you see this as an opportunity for self-development over and above the doubling of your salary.
hello friends some suggestions required my record > Done MBA from tier 2 b school in india > work ex of 1 and half year. looking for MS/Msc Finance > optimum cost( totally based on loan) > good returns. > asset management/ investment banking desired domain in career.
Hopefully current experience is in a core finance job. Take 3 years more, learn and build skill, complement with CFA (at least 2 levels), save some money (reduce dependence on loan) then go for top M.Sc Finance program in UK/US (assuming you want to work abroad).
If not currently in a core finance job, try getting a job with a Financial Services company / Financial Analytics & KPO company, build core skills, complement with CFA (at least 2 levels) and do the above.
